Which low mile car would you rather have?
This 1985 with 47k miles AND with $16,000 cash in the glovebox:
![]() OR This 1992 with 53k miles?

For a daily, the GTI. Summer weekend toy. Tough choice.

I'm guessing that 16k will keep it running for a year or two.
![]() I've never driven either. I'd love to drive the Ferrari. I've had little hatches, and I'm just not that interested in them. Maybe if it was some sort of crazy AWD homologation special.

The first one.
Use the cash to do extensive service on it, drive until the wheels fall off

I wouldn’t buy either. Not at all a fan of the targa Ferraris. And the GTI isn’t as fun as the first generation GTI and that was not as much fun as we remember.
Lots of more interesting stuff out there, at least for my money. |

Who in their right mind spends that much on a GTI and yes I saw the BAT listing. I’m curious if the buyer actually has the money to buy that, certainly no bank will finance that!

I think they are both cool cars. Id probably rather show up to a rad wood event in the gti. The 308 is probably easier to replace.
Not really defending the gavel price, pretty insane, but that VW would be in the top 5% for coolness of vws for me ant the Ferrari would be in the bottom quartile of ferraris and is pretty average for a 308 Top end of any market comes with a premium. The best 308s are still higher than the best gtis.

Anyone who had watched the VW, a few months from now they'll get an email, "You have another chance at this GTI..." Which is what you get for cars that didn't meet reserve or cars in which the deal didn't go through, and get relisted.
Anything under 20K miles and I could see the VW selling for gavel. But 53K is pretty high in the low mileage category.

$16K will pay for a couple majors, so I vote F-car. I've never had one before, and we're sporty car guys, here. YOLO.
