I wish my fat construction worker fingers had that dexterity.
I enjoy goofing off on my Strat, but quickly get frustrated at how lousy I am. |

I've become a fan of these kids...Reina del Cid...love her voice, and the heavily talented young people surrounding her. Girl Guitarist Toni is amazing. Josh Turner the other player. I don't know a strat from a fender...but I sure appreciate listening to great guitarists. Close your eyes during that solo and you'd swear you were listening to an Eagles album.

I’ve been watching Josh Turner’s channel for a few years. He is really great as are the people he does these songs with.

The girl is playing a Fender Tele. The guy is playing a Squier, which is Fender's cheapo, offshore Strat model. These two played it pretty well, but this is not hard at all to play. In the live Eagles video Don is playing a Gibson double neck and Joe is playing a Tele. The Gibson pickups are way, richer and fuller and make a perfect contrast to the thin single coils in Joe's Tele. But those Gibson double necks are around $8k now, so not a lot of folks play them anymore unless they're touring rock stars.

Best Cover Band
Hoping to avoid thread-crashing, I am putting this in its own thread. Perhaps we have discussed this band before. Most impressive cover band I have ever heard of.
That said, they are not perfect. As a bass player, I find it comical that this guy tries to use a Jazz bass to cover a Peter Cetera bass line. Mr. Cetera was a PRECISION player to the bone marrow. Totally different tone:

Rick nailed it (though I didn't know the "why". In their "cover" .... the tone just isn't right .... "to my ears".

Think about it - they're either using battery-powered micro amps or running direct into ProTools on a MacBook. All the technology in the world is not going to reproduce the huge and great tone of the original where they used vintage tube amps (then relatively new) cranked to glowing orange with top shelf guitars. I don't know how much post production that live Eagles video got, but I remember seeing it in the early days of MTV, so it was nothing too advanced.
BTW, I have a double neck Epiphone SG, which is the cheaper version of the Gibson Don played. It weighs a ton and the necks actually weigh more than the body, making it always want to slide down and left. Really hate it. But the boss in my band wants use to double necks for one Rush tune they used them on live, trying to make us look more authentic.

Love the little Martin. I'm thinking it's vintage and has great tone and could fill a room with rich sound all on its own. I only think that, because my dad had a little Martin like that he bought in the early fifties and it sounded great.

I'll be the first to admit I'm not a huge rock 'n roll fan but I know what I like. Couple of years ago I recorded the Eagles Live show of their goodbye tour from Australia shown on AXES(?) tv. The Melbourne show from the big stadium down there (Laver?). Anyways, I still have that sitting on my DVR, played it numerous times over that couple years.
These kids did OK for being next to a stream out in the middle of who knows where. And yes, I'm envious of anyone who plays any kind of musical instrument. My synapses aren't wired that way.

I just love those kids... And Leonid and Friends. Both examples of extraordinary talent and determination to recreate some epic music. I am glad these guys and gals are doing it their way and don't feel tied to a particular version of instrument or gear choice. It ain't about the gear at all for me.
