Keep everyone affected by the horrible fires in Maui in your thoughts
Please keep all of the victims of the fires in Maui in your thoughts.
Our good friends lost everything in their shop on Front Street that burnt to ash. They put everything they had into the shop and now this is all that is left. Our hearts are breaking for them. ![]() Many of you may know the shop, Whalers Locker. ![]() ![]() I did not see the “Maui is on fire” thread until after I posted this. I did a quick scan but missed it.

Really horrible. I feel like it's got to be worse on an island than the mainland since your options for getting out of the area are more limited. I assume your only option is up-wind and then you have to hope that the wind direction doesn't change.
There's also another thread on this that's been going for a bit longer. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/1144492-maui-fire.html I'm not sure what would be worse, the wild fire or a lava flow. The lava flow would be pretty scary, but presumably, slower so you'd have an easier time getting out of the path. I don't remember hearing about wild fires in HI before. I assume this is not terribly common. Texas has had a lot of wild fires going for a bit. We're having very hot dry weather. I suspect they are mostly in wide open spaces that are sparsely populated. Although in our 85 mile drive yesterday, we probably saw the results of a dozen different small fires on the side of the road, some very small, some quite a bit larger. Texas currently has 176 counties out of 254 with burn bans. I'm surprised I haven't heard much about fires in Cali.
