Well if we're going there. Hilary Hahn played this at my local theatre in Morristown and I was able to score front row seats. My fav part strts at 33 minutes. She is magnificent. And I got to chat with her afterwards

I love how Khatia plays, very aggressive and confident but also so delicate.

Watching all three of them (and more) play, is beautiful. The hands, shoulders, heads... total packages. All part of the joy the incredible compositions bring. Mixing visual and auditory makes it more special.

Yuja Wang is a virtuosic pianist. The other weekend she did a one-night performance at Carnegie Hall of all four Mahler piano concertos - very difficult pieces technically - and another Mahler piece that I can't remember. (She's particularly known for interpreting Mahler.) Then she did three or four encores, something she's also known for. If I'd known of that months ago, I would have gone to NYC for the weekend just for that.

I'm also a fan of Mitsuko Uchida and her expressive style. She conducts from the piano sometimes. And of Beethoven's piano concertos, particularly 3 and 5.

Helene Grimaud is my favorite female pianist.. The sound engineer on this needs to be flogged.

Thanks to cookies and algorithms, this just popped up. Really enjoyed it!

Each piece was pure art, again, combining the playing with watching them play amplifies the experience. Khatia playing Liszt's La Campanella was wonderful! Same for Wang's Scriabin's Étude Opus 8.

I have a real appreciation for brilliance.

I just realized that I rather drastically misspoke when I said Mahler - I meant Rachmaninov!!
