Under estimated

I have an 04 Subaru WRX. Just put a new radiator in it. Took it to the Bay Area ( 270-300 miles round trip) and the clutch started slipping. The car has 300,000 miles on it and will need a timing belt soon. Needs brakes and tires. All said I thought I’d throw it out on Facebook marketplace for$900 and see what happens.I stated that this is a project car and listed what it needed. Well, Within ten minutes I got six responses that they wanted it and would come right over. I promised it to the first guy and he is in Reno and was going to come right over to get it. I told him it wasn’t convenient yet. I guess I under priced it.

Sounds under priced.

I always say, it’s easier to go down, than it is to go up.

Way under priced. The car would sell for 5 times that if it's not a rust bucket. You own a cult car

Kick me again Ike😢

You can always change your mind about selling it.

On the plus side, you're getting rid of a car you didn't want to mess with anymore. I've done the same more than once.

Seems like a pretty great deal for someone.

Thanks for the kind words. It needs a bunch of work. I’m too old to pull that tranny on my back. I could do it but I don’t want to. It’s been a great car. Hind site I guess.

You are making someone’s day.

So you left some money on the table.

That’s ok.

I sold a suburban for scrap price. It was a nice rig. I am fine with this. I had reasons for not valuing it higher.

Viagra can fix that.

^^^^ This. It's not always about $$$.

I've made some people very happy recently by selling houses for WAY under what I could have gotten for them ..... especially me :)!

I'd recommend a quick Google search for price ranges, then adjust according to condition.

DonDavis 02-04-2023 01:45 PM

Yeah, my Gen 1 Outback ain't going anywhere. I paid $600 for it.

Then again, everything has a price.

Chocaholic 02-04-2023 02:10 PM

There’s value in having it done and gone without hassle, a million questions, no-show’s, etc. I tend to price things reasonably for that reason. You did well.

Bugsinrugs 02-04-2023 03:01 PM

I’m not a sales person. I don’t like haggling. My wife on the other hand. Haggle is in her DNA.

Bill Douglas 02-04-2023 03:21 PM

$9,000 sounds about right. Good for you and good for the buyer.

Edit: I just re-read it $900

Haha, just joshin' ya Bugs. Sometimes it's just good to let things go and spend your time and money on the things that are important instead.
