New toy BMW R1200 R

Had one and sold it……wish I hadn’t, so I bought another. Mostly will be a garage queen/toy. Ride around the neighborhood. At 71 I’m not going cross country anymore, but those were some of the best days……The bags are gonna go…..i like a “naked” bike.

I always liked that model. Did BMW still call it a Rockster when it became a 1200?

In 2001 BWM produced the odd looking R1150R Rockster. Effectively a pimped-up version of the R1150R roadster. I don't think it continued through to the 1200's.

Here's my 1995 1150RS with over 100,000 miles on it. I still enjoy riding it.

All my friends ride Harleys, and I get all kinds of grief for riding a BMW, but I always remind them that I class up the group when I ride with them.

CONGRATS! Great looking bike, Dennis - love the colour especially!

What year is she, if you don't mind me asking?

Dig it.

Rockster was a brightly coloured striped thing. They also did a R850r.

That looks like it'd be a lot of fun, Dennis. I'd love to have one but around here there are too many people who don't know how to drive running around in cars.

That's the Telelever anti-dive gizmo. I miss my R11S.

I've had an R1150r for a decade. Love that thing it's my go to
Many great trips, completely bulletproof
You probably know this but please practice panic stops the paralever front end reacts different than other bikes and can catch you out

That’s a cool looking bike. What does a bike like that weigh?

I’d like to have a bike like that for weekend back road travels, but I have no road bike experience.

Right. I like the R1150R Rocksters. Didn't know there was an 850 version. I thought they looked cool. The 1200s were nice upgrades.

No Rockster in the 850 that i can recall, just a plain ol' R850r.

That Rockster is looking pretty sharp, i'd say the style held up well!

Kudos on the new bike Dennis. The itch has been hitting hard lately now that the chill is leaving the air. Have been bikeless for about 6 months following our move closer to town/traffic/idiots and a couple of directly related close calls. But the itch is building momentum...and you’re not helping!

Ride safe and enjoy!
