Anyone ever use mobile body shop?

Hey guys have you ever used a mobile body shop service ? My black 996 has a small ding on the front hood and also needs small repairs to the front bumper . Nothing major . I also have a aftermarket front spoiler lip and rear diffuser that need to be primed/painted .

All local body shops are swamped and booked solid . I started a conversation with one of them in November and they " might " be able to get me in sometime in March . With spring around the corner I want to get this done.

So have you ever used a mobile service ? Good results or horrible ? I found at least one that says he has 25 years of service . It doesn't cost anything to start a conversation so I may do that . But curious to hear about your experiences .

I talked to a guy that does mobile repairs on the spot for dealerships. They repair dings and full repaints of front/rear bumpers if needed. He was legit, but I've never used him.

I knew a guy that did paintless dent repair from his truck. He went too dealerships and stayed really busy.

I for a car I am going to keep long term, (all of my cars) I can't imagine using a mobile service that is just a guy with a phone number. If there is any issue in the future will he be there to fix it?

2 neighbors have done this with excellent results. Different operators, one with a TX license plate. IDK if I could have done that but he did a great job. Where do they find them and vet them. I have no idea. CL?

Years ago I met a guy that did used cars on the lots. He was really, really good and didn't have to order paint for every job. It's like he had the mixing/tint bench in his truck. He used a pin point brush for chips and when he was done it was perfect.

The thing is, these guys aren't necessarily cheap. Cheaper than a little dinky job at a shop, but not cheaper than you with paint made up to match. I did a lot of work, sanding, priming, color coat and CC on my black truck for about $60 in materials. I did both sides of the front bumper and one wheel arch. Turned out great.

I had this fixed in my garage. Guy came to my house and put on a new rear quarter, and rolled all the fenders for me. Got it paint ready. Then I took the car apart, took it to the shop and had it completely repainted. Came out perfect.

FYI, that was also the last time I raced that car.....that hit was just to painful..

I contacted two mobile body shop guys that advertised on CL . Haven't heard back from one but the other called me . He stated based on the pics I sent him he advised against doing this in the field . He said he preferred to do the repairs at his shop . Gave me a rough price of $700.00 .

That price is 50-60% less than local shops I have visited . Not sure what to make of that .

He put a quarter panel on your car in your garage? That’s amazing.

Mobile bodyshop

Yup, and for single panels and minor work I'll do it again. No big bodyshop building overhead. Turned out damn near perfect (one pin sized solvent pop at leading edge of fender.

How much did tht run? Any after pics? I got hit in a parking lot last Friday when I was reversing and the guy got my rear bumper and a little on the tailgate.

- repair hole in front bumper, remove rock chips- shoot entire bumper , repair and shoot rear bumper impact strip (GF brought garage door down on it) blend into driver's side quarter panel and repair deep scratch I did with my floorjack, sand, buff and clear headlights

$1200 total. It was an absolute steal considering how much work there was.
Dude was there all day.

They use low pressure guns so their work is best suited to spot repairs.
Like I mentioned, it was done as well as at any body shop. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1675912636.JPG

Yes sir, had everything he needed to do the job. He used to own a shop, decided to get rid of the overhead and just do mobile gigs, Was recommended by Dave from TRE. Very interesting watching someone who knows exactly what they are doing, working their craft.

Went to a local body shop this morning that I didn't know existed . Forty years experience and is a Porsche guy . He quoted me $2500 to repair and paint the front hood and bumper . Also prime/paint/install aftermarket front spoiler lip and rear diffuser that I purchased recently .

He said he can work me in the end of this month . Previous quotes from two other body shops were 1600 and 2000 but can't get to me for months . Then the quote from the CL mobile guy for 700.00 to be done at his shop over an hour away. Decisions decisions 😋

This is not a flip car I plan on it staying in the fleet a long time . I am leaning towards the guy I met this morning as he has lots of experience and what appeared to be a well run professional shop .
