At least making some headway, still a long way to Tipperary !

College buddy had a yellow one like that. He was very pleased.

manbridge 74 02-09-2023 09:18 AM

My buddies first car was a 70 Esprit. Sort of up optioned with 400 and TH400 trans. Vacuumed controlled hideaway wipers, sport mirrors, Rally wheels, 3.08 rear end, etc. These had a high compression bark that was missing in later engines.

These have a great look, keep going!

pwd72s 02-09-2023 09:21 AM

Rockford!

steve185 02-09-2023 09:36 AM

When we were in HIgh school, we would say pull a "ROCKFISH" You were then obligated to do one.
Might have done a few in PEI too.

yellowperil 02-09-2023 09:51 AM

Oh, so that was you keeping me awake !

manbridge 74 02-09-2023 10:01 AM

First Rockford Esprit was a 74, by then a different car really..

Yep, huge difference between a 70 engine and a 74 engine on many levels.

steve185 02-09-2023 11:18 AM

400 small block was always potent engine even with the smog equipment.

sugarwood 02-09-2023 01:43 PM

Please tell us more about this project

WPOZZZ 02-09-2023 02:09 PM

Mom had a 73 in blue with a white vinyl roof and white seats. Dad had a red 75 with white roof and white seats

The guy I work for, or used to work for is always on look out for cars like these 67, 68, 69 , early 70's he has a bunch of them. Has a great guy working for him, and I help out a bit. He has a rotisery and there's nothing he can't do. He enjoys it and I do too. I'll take a few shots as we go along.

That will be a nice car by this spring. Hardest part is getting the final bit of body work and paint done.

A930Rocket 02-09-2023 04:27 PM

Nice.

sugarwood 02-10-2023 01:31 PM

Why is the rear trim all stripped out?
Tail lights, bumper, side lights

Easier to do restorative bodywork that way.

Best

Racerbvd 02-10-2023 04:11 PM

A nice/diff color.
A different time for cars like that.

yellowperil 02-13-2023 06:32 AM

and another one

This one just a parts car, mostly because different rear window, makes this a newer and less popular car. Plus someone tried to make a sun roof in this one (home made)http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1676302296.jpg

Also I think this has a good Pontiac 400 engine and 4 speed

Sun roof or T-tops or targa? It looks like T-tops or targa. I assume T-tops is more likely.

I think targa would be a death sentence for these. I imagine that they've got the structural ridigity of cooked lasagna without at least some of the roof.

yellowperil 02-13-2023 09:01 AM

Yes, I was wrong, the owner tried to cut T-tops in the roof. That's our guess anyway.

T-tops=Yuck! Loose, leaky, lam!

Where do you live with that much snow on the ground?

That's the garden of the gulf, the million acre farm. Prince Edward Island, my friend. Home to a fictional red haired little girl and cradle of Canada's Confederation.
Beautiful spot and home to some of the best musicians anywhere.
Drop by sometime.
(Full disclosure: I don't live there, I just like the place. )
Best
Les

Some of my friends are a bit .....

They are different these guys, built a very nice winged Daytona, oh and a nice casket for another friend who intends to use it for his cremation. I suspect it will do the trick.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1678901275.jpg

That back window in the Daytona is the proper Vega window which is used to smooth things out better.

rfuerst911sc 03-15-2023 10:44 AM

I seem to remember back in the day getting and keeping door alignment gaps was an issue because of the size and weight of the doors . Is that still an issue ? Or are there solutions that correct it ? Nice project .

yellowperil 03-15-2023 11:00 AM

I don't think the doors were an issue, one of my best friends (he built my Hot Rod)
never said it was a problem.

Tobra 03-15-2023 11:52 AM

Yes, but you are not friends with average people.

herr_oberst 03-15-2023 01:07 PM

Nice to see a Poncho motor in the Firebird. That's an expensive choice in this age of cheap LSX hp, but I like your style.

Why do you have a coffin in your garage?

yellowperil 03-15-2023 01:16 PM

Somebodies idea of a joke, I think.

yellowperil 03-24-2023 11:52 AM

manbridge 74 03-24-2023 03:57 PM

Double pumper awesomeness.

I like how Pontiac had an air gap under their intake manifolds to keep the fuel charge cooler compared to most other makes. Pontiacs had a lot of extra details like that.
