And this is the rabbit hole I speak of!!! :D
p.s.- show pics.

I guess, to conclude this, there is no reason legally to pursue a bought (finished) lower vs. a complete rifle. And in terms of complete lower, I am assuming "completely machined", not "completely built" as in trigger, safety, mag release, etc. installed.

Is that correct?

PS- I was at the spoon store today, looking at a 6.5 creedmoor AR platform, and some ruger precision rifles, but all the bolt actions are right handed. I could get a savage left handed bolt for a 110 precision, but none in stock. You can see how all over the place I am... :)
Thanks. Ron

For the ar15. I really don't see why people build the lowers. 40-50 bucks gets you an Anderson lower. One will spend a few hundred in tooling to get the same end result and still require some anodizing. Even building the upper for the ar15 is stupid easy. Would compare it to changing front wheel bearings/races on an older truck, with the emphasis of the bearings being the harder job.

I like novelty.
Cetme C, akm, sten, suomi, drilled a couple g19 80's, but the biggest waste of money was the mg34. Blah, what a waste of money. Future builds will be another hk, and maybe a 1919 if i can find a reasonable parts kit.

Level of difficulty goes from a jig and pressing the flats, to drilling holes for the akm and other 80's. The others require welding and some milling work. The challenge for a lot of this stuff is modification from FA to SA. As the scarcity of parts and prices increasing; it no longer becomes as much fun.

Holy carp. I think I saw an anderson on the wall today at the store.

thanks. From my limited knowledge here.- What makes Anderson a better choice than PSA? From my little knowledge, I understand PSA as a plain jane type of application. Maybe a plain jane that got it's act together from feedback to minimally acceptable level.
I was just looking at Anderson (thanks to your post). Its about twice the price (for complete rifles) and looks sweet. What's the difference?

I'm looking at a 22 barrel creedmoor on the site right now. Im wondering if the muzzle velocity makes a difference over 20. I'm thinking 18-22. Really 20-22. I want to drive tacs.
I'm not really looking for 16 or less. That seems to get into a mess.

Anderson fits my "cassette" triggers. PSA doesn't. Which is a shame bc psa does neat limited edition engraved lowers.

Don't pay that much for an Anderson. They're budget not top tier. If you're gonna go Anderson, just get a stripped lower and we'll guide you where to buy the parts and even offer online assembly tech support.

I'm not familiar with creedmoor and what barrel lengths that cartridge prefers. That will be some literature search for sure.
I would say barrel material would matter more in the long run. I prefer chrome lined cold hammer forged barrels which are industrial standards but command higher prices. Some like stainless steel. If you really want to get into the hardcore side of it. I would check out green mountain barrels, but those will require some work to fit per each application. I would also check out rock river arms for uppers and parts.

Thanks. Somehow last night I changed from Anderson to Andro Corp rifles, which are a little pricier. Back at the Anderson website- good prices. I'm hoping for SS at least on the barrel.

This is what I put in one of my Anderson lowers last week. I hope to try it out at the range tomorrow. So far the trigger feel awesome.

Binary or forced reset only!

Stay away from PSA lowers. Anderson also makes a high quality budget lower.

I'm wondering what issue you have with the PSA lowers? I know there were online forum complaints early on about their QC. I'm not aware of any issues with their products for several years.

I suspect PSA makes more finished lowers than anyone else. Every PSA I have seen has been fine. I have one special edition PSA myself - I have no complaint.

The only Anderson I have been hands on with was badly out of tolerance.

Regarding triggers - I have a couple each Rock River National Match and Larue. I also have a drop in from Rise. All of those are much better in my estimation than any mil-spec I have shot. Any time I shoot a mil-spec trigger it throws me off now.

My opinion is that Larue is tough to beat for the price - but I'm a fan of Mark and he has been good to me.
