No good deed goes unpunished
As some of you know, I have been in Idaho clearing out my brothers possessions due to him having to go into a nursing home. As fate would have it my cuurrent oldest dog Buddy ( I lost KC 1/20) decided to get mildly sick the evening before I left.
His condition slowly deteriorated while I was gone. Today he crossed the rainbow bridg. I could not be there due to weather which has me stranded in Atlanta until tomorrow 2/24. I was supposed to get home last night. I wasn't there for him when he needed me the most. I was his favorite person in the whole world and he had to pass without me there to comfort him. I am heartbroken... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1677181397.jpg RIP Buddy, you are a good boy... |
I'm sorry to read that Matt. I feel for ya.
|
Damn! The pain is real...take comfort that you gave him a great life...
|
Sorry for your loss. Just horrible.
|
Think instead of the thousands of times you were there for him, and the comfort that gave him during his entire life.
So sorry for your troubles, Matt. |
I'm so sorry, Matt. My deepest condolences.
|
Oh Matt that sux. Hard enough losing them but to not be there. Sorry bro.
|
Matt, I know how much you wanted to be there for your Buddy. On the other hand maybe he felt it would be best to slip away when you didn't have to see him like that. Our animal friends like to be "up" for us. Sometimes they go to great lengths to hide their pain.
Hold on to the happy memories and forget the guilt of not being there at the end. Buddy wouldn't want you to feel bad about that. Like the rest of us, he wouldn't want to see his loved ones cry. Best Les |
Matt, I'm so sorry. No good deed, rains it pours, all those other cliches. It will get better, but that's not what you want to hear now. Keep your head up and try and remember the good times you had with your friends and family including Buddy before all this fell in your lap.
|
You are a good man and your dog knew that you loved him. So sorry about those circumstances but sometimes things are out of our control. :(
|
Sorry to hear this.
I'm sure he was thinking of you as you were of him. |

A kind word for Matt?
Our friend Matt (Skytrooper) lost his pup Buddy yesterday. He lost K.C. four weeks ago and now Buddy. Two dogs lost in a month - that's a lot to bear. Matt loves his dogs and he is devastated. He may or may not want to bring it up here so soon after K.C., but I know he appreciates kindness. It wouldn't hurt for him to know his Pelican friends are thinking about him. A PM to our friend would be a kindness.

You missed Matt's thread "No good deed goes unpunished ".

Sorry to hear this. Matt is one of the few pelicans local to me. I have a dog named Buddy too and lost 2 dogs in the past couple years and I’m still not over it. If I can do anything please let me know.

Paul can you delete this thread? Thanks |
I’ll merge them, Pat.
Great sentiment and thank you. |
So sorry to hear of your situation. RIP to your Buddy. You did your best. That is all anyone can do.
|
Aww man, so sorry. If there's any justice in the universe you'll see him again some day.
|
Sorry for your loss ☹️ . Know that you gave them great lives . It's not a perfect world unfortunately . When you are ready get another as there are plenty of great dogs at shelters ready to give their all to a new owner .
