I pulled a Robin Hood today

I'm a new shooter. I shoot at 10-12 yards, and my good groups (12 arrows) are usually 6" x 8". I'm no marksman. I've probably shot about 650 arrows since I got the bow in the past 2 weeks.

But tonight in my last "end" (that's what a round of arrows is called), I did this.

Wow!

That will never happen again.

There are vid's out there that explain how ridiculously rare something like this is, even in controlled experiments.

Did the arrow’s nock get pushed down the shaft?

Yeah, I was looking at the arrows and it took a bit for it to register. Then I got excited like a little kid.

Absolutely, I was shocked that it had happened at all.

I've got photographic evidence, and I'm going to save the "catcher" but I'm putting the "pitcher" back into circulation.

Yes and no.
The part below the red line that slips into the back of the shaft is shoved down the shaft, but the part above the line was just gone. I assume it exploded when the arrow hit it.

I thought this was going to be about robbing from the rich and giving to the poor. Still a pleasant surprise!

That's neat!
I recall a Mythbuster's segment where they were trying to duplicate this. It took quite a bit of effort IIRC.

Meh, it was easy.

Just don't ask me to do it again. (you know, it's a waste of a good arrow)

Yeah, but Robin hood actually stole from the tax collectors to give money back to the taxed.

Interesting video. Noticed that the longbow expert used spliced shafts...like used on a full splice pool cue. The science of controlling vibrations in wood.

Amazing shot!
