I think this is worthy of watching. More technology in Senna's era than I imagined.

That car is just as sexy with the bodywork off. It has to be THE prettiest F1 ever made.

And the dummies in charge did not realize it get cold at night in the desert.

yeah, we'll see what Pirelli brings.. Probably super-mega-softs. If I'm being the devil's advocate I wouldn't mind a cold track and sliding tires that are hard to warm up, could lead to some changes in the final result and unexpected results, via slow laps after a pit stop (When will Norris get his first victory?)

Trying to keep an open mind for this GP. From what the locals are saying it's gonna be a pain to repeat the experience each year and keep tourists happy... Apparently the prices are DROPPING hard right now for both hotels rooms and tickets. Closest one to me, still not going, had awful experiences at Vegas airport and I swore I'd never go back there commercially. I'd rather do Austin or Mexico.

working corner position 6.7 and am not looking forward to the rain on Friday

Zeke 11-13-2023 02:05 PM

LV weather is one day behind ours so if any rain we see on Wed (predicted) doesn't peter out going across, then you may see rain Thurs. Next rain here is supposed to be Friday that wouldn't hit Vegas until Saturday. Somehow I remember that it doesn't normally rain in Vegas at night having lived there just one year. Afternoon if anything.

So if there is a bet on this, put me down for Sunday afternoon.

But weather, you know? If I could tell you for sure I'd be able to pick stocks.

I’m at 17.4 (intervention). Hopefully we can meet.

Wunderground is showing minimal chance of rain.

Be great to meet a fellow pelican. I am radio marshal for that turn. Looking at the map, looks like I am at the sphere.

Staying at the Luxor

Staying at the Luxor

I’m staying with family up north. Planning on registering early Wednesday, the very long day.

What an announcement, fantastic news, adds a serious amount of pressure for approving an Andretti entry

https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/general-motors-registers-to-join-f1-as-engine-manufacturer-from-2028/10546412/

I'll bet my money on a Vegas race announcement that Andretti are in!!!!!!

rfuerst911sc 11-14-2023 11:01 AM

^^^ With that announcement anyone in F1 that didn't want Andretti their backs are against the wall now ! The Andretti/GM team have a lot they bring to the table . Will be interesting to see what " official " statements come out this weekend and the following weeks/months .

GH85Carrera 11-14-2023 11:58 AM

It will be interesting to see how long the board of directors and the stockholders will wait for them to start winning, or pull out of F1.

I remember the days when Mercedes first came back, they had dismal overall performance, and lots of huge bills to pay. The stockholders were ranting about having the tri-star on cars that were not at the front of the pack. Then they won what 8 seasons in a row, and all the good publicity, and stockholders were happy. Lets just hope Mercedes will stick around if Red Bull keeps whipping them like a rented mule.

Captain Ahab Jr 11-14-2023 12:43 PM

Glen, ignoring any hurdles with getting an entry, the odds are so heavily stacked against Addretti/GM ever being in a position of winning in F1

Don't want to sound negative , it's just the cold, hard, reality I see ahead of both companies for at least the next 5yrs or probably more like 10yrs

I am sure they see that. Mercedes did not start winning and they had Michael Schumacher helping them develop the car.

Ford dumped a ton of money to beat Ferrari at Le Mans, and did it a few times and took their trophies home and said goodby.

If GM (Cadillac) wants to spend a bunch of money F1 is one way to do it. They could get into building jet aircraft and spend the same amounts. HAAS has struggle at the back of the pack and they have Ferrari engines and help.

Captain Ahab Jr 11-14-2023 01:37 PM

7 engine manufacturers have signed up, Ferrari, Mercedes, Audi, Honda, Renault, RBPT and GM

Not sure if there has ever been that many, has the makings of a god old fashioned F1 engine war

Mercedes even bought a team that were the current world champions and the days of buying an unfair advantage are from a bygone era (loved working through that era of F1)

Hoping GM can see F1 isn't just a marketing opportunity but also a platform to fast track the development of their road car engineers

I did a quick search of Wiki; Here is the lineup for the '67 Monaco GP. I count 8 different engines?
(I know, I know, this isn't exactly car manufacturers, but ....)

Ironically, the Matra is using a Ford, and we all know that Matra eventually built what could be the most incredible sounding engine in Grand Prix history!

But I agree, this modern engine war could get interesting.

GM was pressured to go forward without Andretti and gave an emphatic 'no' to that. They will not proceed without Andretti.

Captain Ahab Jr 11-14-2023 02:36 PM

That's a hell of a list from 67, lots of 1 car teams, interesting the only 2023 teams are Ferrari, Honda and McLaren

GM were right sticking with Andretti, glad 'divide and conquer' didn't workout for FOM

Survived many F1 Constructor wars so looking forward to my first frontline experience of an F1 engine war
