Not helpful to the OP: SUV is and always has been a marketing term, which is why its definition has become rather...loose. IIRC it was coined in about the mid-70s by a marketing guy at AMC to describe the Wagoneer.

Anyone interested in a 1 owner, 2002 Lexus Complete service history and always serviced at Lexus. $9,500 takes it, located in Florida. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1678723281.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1678723281.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1678723281.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1678723281.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1678723281.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1678723281.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1678723281.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1678723281.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1678723281.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1678723281.jpg |
Has anyone suggested a first gen Toyota Sequoia yet? I recently went looking for a Land Cruiser to fit my budget but came up short. The cheapest I found was a 2000 LC with about 240k miles for $14000 on the SF Bay Area. Then I looked for alternatives on YouTube and came across a huge following for the Sequoia or “Tree” on YouTube speak. Anyway, that’s what I bought.
Here’s my 2003 Sequoia Limited with all the bells and whistles including 4wd. This already had the lift and wheels installed. I put BF Goodrich KO2s on and had the timing belt, water pump replaced. I changed the tie roads and ball joints myself. The SUV cost me only $4500 but it does have 223,000 miles on the ODO though the 4.7 liter V8 has a reputation for being a million mile motor. It’s the same engine in the LC, Lexus GX470, FJ and Lexus 470.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1678724084.jpg |
A true SUV has a ladder frame and yes stick with Toyota. But I'm a Toyota guy.
Budget? It always comes down to budget. |
I highly recommend a 957 Cayenne GTS.
I've owned 50 cars since 15. If I could only have one car for the rest of my life, it would be my 2010 GTS. Hands down. It does EVERYTHING. Very well if not excellent. |
You didn't mention price range, but if you aren't in a rush the R1S pretty much meets or exceeds all of your criteria easily.
https://rivian.com/r1s https://www.caranddriver.com/rivian/r1s Disclaimer: I work for Rivian and have owned an R1T for about 1.5 years and just about 25K miles, ask me anything! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1678729223.jpg |

I'm changing my answer to Rivian just to help the stock price. What a tumble it's been.

I was looking at Land Cruisers from the late 90's to early 2000's and they're holding value.
I wish I could get one but couldn't justify the prices to replace an aging 2011 Sienna with an older Toyota. I'm still trying to convince my wife to replace it with a used Macan. Or maybe an SQ5, but I'm partial to the Macan of course. |
If you want a 100 series LandCruiser, consider the Lexus clone.
Same car with the suspension being the only difference. LARGE price discount. |

Nothing but praise for our '03 LC. Coming up on 220k and keeping my eyes peeled for a low-mile 00-02 LX470.

LC and LX470 are very close in price here in the SF area. Around $14k for 200k+ miles
|
While not a 100 Series, I absolutely love my 200 Series LC.
Have about 20,000 miles on my 2021 and I do not plan on ever letting it go. |
Late LC80 FTW

GX460... It's a 4runner with a V8, a better interior and the same gas mileage.
