We Are Racers Thread................

Thought I'd start a racing thread as we don't seem to have one and I know there are more than a few of you on here...

http://https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3RE_BeWoM0

Rules are simple,

All types of racing allowed

Only racing you have been involved in, past, present or in the future

I'm not a driver I'm a racer......anyone else a racer?

You set the bar kinda high with pro racers at LeMans.

Vintage racing a 25 year old built in the USA square tube chassis race car.
I'm far too old, slow and ambivalent about winning to seriously call myself a "racer".

Hope others post their race cars and if available videos too.

Perfect start, now lets see who follows this 'once a racer always a racer'

I'd love to say I'm connected to the Porsche racing in the video but sadly I'm not, just liked it and made me think we needed a racing thread.....

I've been racing Porsches for almost 20 years. In the process have won the Klub Porsche Challenge, the Rolex Vintage endurance Series, the HSR Sprint Race Series, SVRA's Vintage Championship, PCA's Class Championship and currently lead the GT3 Cup Trophy USA presented by Mission Foods.

I'm working to get all funding inline in hopes to race on the Tequila Patron North American Endurance Challenge ( Daytona 24, Sebring 12, Petit Lemans and 6 hours at the Glen).

Sponsors are welcomed!

Current race cars on the Stable a 69 911S Vintage Race Car and a GT3 Cup Grand Am.

Oh man, I've raced countless cars, karts and motorcycles over the past 30 years. My FA at Laguna Seca in 1994:

My SCCA ITS-class 944 has been sitting in the back corner of the hanger with rock-hard tires for a while.

Kinda sad.......

Started vintage racing in 2008. Had to take two years off due to finances. Started back about 2 years ago.

If I'm not doing it, I thinking or dreaming about it.

My last race. First time/session in a year on a track I don't know well and on slick tires. Was a BLAST!!

From a race last year...

My racing days started with motorcycles at 11. Raced simi-pro motocross for Crown Valley Yamaha in the late 70's, with a lot of desert racing mixed in. Was almost killed by Parnelli Jones in his Stroppe Bronco in the Baja 1000 just outside San Felipe in 1974.

I started racing Porsches in 1998. Multiple Porsche Owners Club class championships in Cup racing and time trials in multiple classes. Two bad crashes in 2011 and 2012 has me taking a little break. ($$$). I'll probably restart with next season.

The last pic is of the last crash scene. The guy behind me lost his brakes. 5g impact on the data recorder.

The rest are pictures of the evolution of my car from JP to V4 to V3. First #118, then #50 in V3.

I'm a much better builder than driver......but I have my moments....or did.
I can still build but slowly......now my building and driving are about the same.

Back when I was semi-slow. .....

Laguna Seca...+1 It's got to be in the top three of anybody who's driven it. There are many fun tracks in this country, but only one "Corkscrew"! ...Plus, the weather, Pebble Beach Golf, dinner in Carmel, etc, etc, etc.

I'm a racer. After years of crewing and attending vintage race events, I finally took the plunge and got my competition license last year.

I race a 1956 MGA, which, in 1957 won 1st in class, and 23rd overall at Sebring 12 hours. You can see it here #49.

Sebring 12 Hours 1957 - Photo Gallery - Racing Sports Cars

The car was found and restored by a good friend, who's in his elder years and really wanted to see the car on the track. I'm fortunate and honored that he's letting me run the car. This is Mosport, last summer.

I guess I could post some video (yes, it's an S10 pickup truck, but at least I pass a 944 in the Esses) :
