another option instead of the local dmv
 

If you don't like using the DMV, mail, or online for renewing your car tabs or drivers license......Meijer stores have new kiosks to do either right in the store.

They are about the same size as a Coinstar machine.
A great idea. (Maybe other places have the same)

I can do it at my local small town city hall. In fact, just did about a hour ago. Took longer to turn left coming out of the parking lot than it did to get stuff done.

I was surprised to see a sticker on the machine that said this.....

"Residents don't need to have their renewal packet with them to renew their registration at a self-service station."

Safeway has the DMV kiosks and I am going to try it this week. The charge is $4+2.5% of my bill, so about $15 for the convenience. I mailed one renewal in back in December and never received the sticker until a month later. By that time I went to the DMV and got a replacement sticker.

I just renew my tag on line. They mail the new sticker to me.

^^^ I looked all over this one today and couldn't find a charge/rate.
It's prob close to the same...I don't know.

I use online also...but I could see this one being handy...esp for a drivers license renewal. (that you didn't know was expiring)
