Had some police activity this morning
I first noticed the police around 2:00 this morning, with lights flashing everywhere. I went back to bed, then got up about 4:00, and it was still going on.
I went outside to talk with the officers about 4:45 and as I'm walking back in, the shots were fired. I think the video we have is going to be far too large to upload here. It just didn't seem to me like much was the matter, but someone ended up being shot dead in front of my house. I watched the video from Farmington Utah where the cops pulled a kid over, non registration and he was completely non-compliant. Pulled the "Sovereign Citizen" crap, had a gun and they ended up killing him.
Now his family is saying he was executed. Turns out mom was pulled over in the past for no tags and pulled the same "Sovereign Citizen" BS.

Suicide by Cop, sounds like.
What a crappy thing to do to police. I am not a fan of over-zealous police but this seems the absolute opposite. Police have a nasty job. Shooting mentally ill folks should not be part of the job description. Sucks for almost all involved. Yuck. |

So that report says the suspect only pointed a gun at SWAT, but didn't actually fire it at them, and they then returned fire killing him.
Do you think this is accurate?

I think he decided it was going to be suicide by cop and that's all there was to it. I heard them asking him to do this and that, and telling him that it didn't have to end this way, etc...
It doesn't bother me that it ended the way it did. Bullets are cheap.

I'm not too bothered by it ending the way it did either, but I thought they had to be fired at before returning fire.

I believe you are correct in that he did not fire a shot. I certainly heard only one caliber of weapon being fired, and I was within 50 yards

If you point a firearm at SWAT officers don't expect them to send you a Hallmark card . Expect full force to eliminate the threat .

I don't think they knew if the gun was loaded or not. I heard them saying later, after he was shot, not to clear the weapon at that time.

That sounds risky to me, but I'm not them so who knows. I'd have thought they'd clear it with a witness present ie a sargent or higher up before turning it into evidence just to be safe.

Law enforcement was all over the place. Just seemed like routine business, they had the place cleaned up by 11:00. Well almost cleaned up, someone left this behind.

Had similar activity next door to me last night. My closest neighbor passed away during the day and her daughter found her when stopping to visit. She was 69 years old.
She was a year younger than me and a real nice lady. Really makes a person think of the shortness of a persons life.
