My grandfather lived in Charlevoix and would hit B Mountain every wednesday with his doctor friends until he was at least 75. I hope to have as good of a run as that - but at 48yo I've got a little while to go. At least in the SW Rockies they haven't discovered snowmaking, so that while the season might be a bit shorter, the snow is infinitely softer than that I was raised on in MI - that alone might keep the body going a little longer...
I have great memories of April skiing that hill in shorts as a dumb high-schooler. Our "barefoot most of the winter in the snow" 9yo shall not hear of this or she'll get similarly dumb ideas. It turned out that corn snow is very abrasive and those early-90's soccer shorts (umbros?) didn't provide much protection...
