PSA - Harbor Freight Generators clearance - LOW prices

Okay- seems this was a price mistake and HF has now removed the items - sorry for the false alarm.
I've removed the links provided earlier, but leaving the screen snapshot just to show it was listed on their site.

I'm not a huge Harbor Freight fan but sometimes their products make sense to purchase. I never have bought a gas powered item from them, but they are clearing out portable generators. They've got a 9000W that they normally sell for $900 on clearance for $173 and a 6500W that is on sale for $133. Shipping appears to run $25 or so if you don't have a local store.

I'll just add - get one if you want one - not going to find one cheaper I believe!

The predator engines seem pretty popular with the DIY set. Don't know about the genset - but the engine should be good....

How can they be that cheap?

These were posted on Slickdeals - and several were ordered based on those posts. HF then apparently caught the pricing mistake and removed them from their site.

Many years back, shortly after ebay started, a guy did about the same thing for Sony cameras on Ebay.
I was looking for one and the price was over 50% off. The ad said payment was ok after I received the camera and it checked out ok. How could I lose?

Within a couple days and before it arrived....I got a phone call from Sony and an email from the FBI

Apparently the seller was using stolen credit card numbers to buy the cameras from Sony.
They stopped delivery on mine before it arrived....thankfully!

I had a similar event at my local HF on Apache hard cases. The prices were crazy low but when I brought them to checkout they refused to honor the marked price. I could have made a scene but I didn't.

Years ago Amazon had plasma cutters for $14. I knew that was a mistake but I wanted a few bucks of entertainment. Yeah, life is dull.

I watched the "returns and orders" section and I finally received an email, "There appears to be a problem with the seller. We cancelled your order and refunded your payment."

As a more soophisticated scam:

I found a $1000 battery backup on Wish for $150. Figured it was a scam but was up for the challenge to see what I got on the off-chance it had some value. Knew it would be protected by my CC if not real.

Well the shipping notice was sent. Only the package was marked as 0.25 lbs... ...headed my way via FedEx... ...now no battery backup is going to weigh 4 oz. Again, still curious as to what they would send.

...well I got a notice of delivery from FedEx - with a picture of the package on someone elses porch.

So the scam was they took your money and send some useless package to someone in your town. FedEx shows delivered to your town (address dertails are not available) and the app charges you.

The app did attempt to refund me 6 months after I did a chargeback with MC for non-delivery.

Very odd looking engine...recoil starter on the SIDE? Is it a horizontal-shaft? I've seen that same weird engine on even cheaper wal-mart mowers. It has got to be total crap at that price. Run, Run Away!

No..I'm not looking to buy, I bought one just last year and it cost $400 at Menards. (and it was one of the cheaper ones they had)

Why do they state "recoil start for quick and easy starting." What's the alternative?

It's odd ..... I've always seen push mowers as hp too ... and over the decades knew what I was looking at. But all of my chainsaws and other Stihls (and Echo) 2-cycle's have always been in CCs .... particularly the saws. I know what a 30, 35, 45, 55, etc. CC saw is....

Now some saws are rated in HP and I have no freakin' clue what size the saw is ....

Are horses metric now ?
