Any AM Radio Gurus Here?

I upgraded my OEM 2005 Cayenne PCM radio to the new PCCM+, you can read about my journey here. . .

https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cayenne-macan-forum/1136481-pccm-getting-installed-today.html

The problem I am having is my AM reception is non existent.

The dealer did the install and was unable to correct the problem when I took the vehicle back. In fact, they told me AM reception is poor in Los Angeles.

I removed the rear spoiler and located what I believe to be the AM radio antenna.

I moved this tan wire around and the reception did change depending on the position.

Question: Is there a way to splice wire to this antenna to improve reception? I cannot see the connection where this antenna connects to the audio system.

I'm not a AM antenna guru. Looking at that antenna and I would think it is the one for your remote, if you trust ebay that large yellow zinc plated enclosure is part of your antenna, what is attached to it?

Oh! You may be right. I wonder where the AM antenna is.

It should be one of the wires plugged into the unit side, likely one for FM and one for AM another for cell? I am guessing that is some sort of signal splitter booster. Any idea if other Cayenne's have bad AM reception? Check to see if you have power going to that.

They do not have bad AM reception. I am always impressed by how clear and rock solid the AM is in the Cayenne, whereas with other cars it's shaky.

I wish the Germans would just order Japanese electronics. Hopefully somebody here knows how to test these. I would make sure you have power, check the red wire on the right side box, looks like it is labeled +, check those brown ground wires leading to the metal straps to see if they are tight.
