LOL!
I think I was able to do a few bottle returns for change in the early 80s. Same time, I think I also did some aluminum recycling for change. I'd be surprised if the total for all of it was more than $10 or absolute max $20.

Biggest raise
In 1985 I moved to take a job at the request of the company for which I worked. As a result, I got a 15 percent raise. About 3 months later, I got a promotion and an additional 12 percent raise! A 26 percent raise on top of an already substantial salary made that a really good year!

That happened to me at Amazon a few years back. When they bumped their minimum wage to $15, the new pay scale moved me from $12 to $18, allowing for shift differential since I worked nights. Bear in mind, $15 was over double the local minimum wage. Not long after, Covid-19 hit and they threw in the $5/hour premium.

$1.91/hr climbing poles for the phone co. 6 months (1965) and the scheduled raise was (by union agreement) a nickel. I lasted 9 months total and went with an independent communications company immediately at $5/hr. But I quit that soon as it was dangerous as all get out. Journeyman POCO linemen were making 6 after 6 years. That was dangerous too. So I started working on cars.
