Found a AR on my property

I am finishing a house, my rental. We were in the process of a 50 yard pour this morning finishing up the driveway and the stupid well required by the city that ate up about 5 yard of concrete. Guys showed up early, at 6:30 for a last minute prep as they wait for the concrete truck to arrive. Upon moving some plywood and junk that was leaning up against the fence, they found an AR that was hidden behind there. I arrived about 7 thinking it would be a great day and go home by noon and let 'em finished up. I called the cops immediately and they took the gun away because I have no clue how it got there. They asked all of us few questions took some notes and left. The women next door was there and told me that the lady on the other side of me has a trouble son that's been in trouble many times since his youth. The cops nodded and they know about him and he on their radar. They all seem to think its his but he no longer lives there. I suppose he will be in for a big surprise when he comes back for it. the whole place is cleaned up, no more mess and no more gun. Crazy.

The gun was hidden on my side of the fence where the new post are under some construction materials.

It went from messy dirt to this. Guys finishing up.

Front of house this morning with dirt and trash piled up to the eye balls. I decided its best to clean it up and haul it out asap, so it went. Need to finish up the color coat on my stucco, and install rain gutters and it is done. Ready for some rental income on the two houses.

On the drive home, I kept wondering if he's going to give me carp about his gun thinking maybe I kept it? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680933538.jpg

Hey it wouldn't allow me to upload the other two pics

When I click and drag, there's an X on the photo and blocks me out

Anyway, may not be so important to see a bunch of mess. I just want wanted to show you guys where the gun was hidden with all the mess around

Interesting... You really have to wonder what's going on in someone mind if they think it's OK to hide a gun on someone else's property.

(obvious post warning) If he ever approaches you about the gun, call the cops.

I am there once a week to see progress. Yeah, I hear ya. I am thinking I should have a word with mom but I think she had enough of his BS. Plus, I have no proof. Still, I just may inform her that a gun was found on my side of the property hidden against her white lattes fencing and that she should be careful about people that comes and goes around here. I think she will get the message. This is not a run down area, its pretty typical middle to upper middle class folks that live there. Hey, you just never know.

Good call not keeping the gun and letting the police deal with it.

It would be just your bad luck if you kept it and it turned out the bullet/rifling matched a crime scene item.

Screw that man. I don't feel like going back to jail...and getting gang rape again.:D Plus, I am not a gun guy.

Yeah, that sort of thing gives jail a bad name LOL

I’m stuck just looking at the sun in the pictures. We are on month 6 of continuous rain and I’m about to lose it.

LOL ....

1) Take the AR and shoot up the local Post Office (at night ... hurting no one).
2) Knock on neighbor's door and return his rifle.
3) Call the popo!

You can bet yer sore azz that it's stolen....

Wipe off your fingerprints .... they have them on file :D

I keep a lot of things I find, but finding an AR, I'd definitely turn it in. It could be a murder weapon. Not worth it for $600 or so that you could buy one for if that's why I'd even keep it. What's the point?

But, if I found a box with an old antique Colt, gold doubloons or other, I'd most likely just keep it.

So, those special knee floats(?) are kinda cool. Obviously they keep a worker from mucking up the float.

Wow. 50 yards is a LOT of concrete. That's 1350 cubic feet.

svandamme 04-08-2023 07:32 AM

Just get it checked with the cops in case it was stolen or used in crime
if not
free AR !

I doubt that's how it works in CA. I'd have kept it, maybe swapped out the barrel and bolt and then tossed the old ones into the ocean.

Hand finished? Yes, that’s a lot but this was 21,200 yards.

More on the pour here.

I had the good fortune to work with the Field Operations Superintendent before he went out West. Absolute rockstar.

171 did exactly the right thing in my opinion since he owns the business and his employees found the AR...an AR of dubious pedigree just isn't worth the potential grief or intrigue.
