Do you have a favorite "78 rpm record song"?
My father had many 78's that we listened to. Most were Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, or Nat King Cole.
My favorite was this one by Tex Williams....I wore that record out. ![]()

Doubt if it ever came out on 78, but I like this one as a 45

We had one similar to this.(pre Steven Tyler days!)
It had an am radio on one side and a record player on the other side. (which would play 78,45,16's.) 33's were too big to fit inside. The two doors on the bottom kept the 78 records and the center was the main/only speaker.

I don't know why...but Roy Orbison's voice always reminds me of Marty Robbins.

I was looking up pre war blues singers who made a 78.
Check out these prices. https://www.valueyourmusic.com/most-valuable/78-rpm/all-time?genre=blues |

I wish I would have kept some of the 78's.
The first thing you notice is how thick these records were...there was no chance of warping.

78?
How old do you think we are? From the era when 45s were the most likely option, I’d throw out Patsy Cline, Crazy. |

^^^ 78's were popular into the late 60's
I was born in 53 45's were playable with an adapter...until they became more popular.

I know my Dad had a set of fifteen 45's from 1955 but I think he had some 78's of him as well. ![]() FWIW - 2nd grade I found my first big hit on 45. Eydie Gorme, Blame it on the Bossa Nova. The record player was that brown bakalite stuff like an old Weller soldering gun. With a flip of the lever it was playing the song over. Sweet. I don't think it had a 33 1/3 speed. 78 and 45 rpm.

I have a bunch of 78s recorded on one side only. I don't recall the songs but it is of course all Big Bands.
