Old guys rule!

I have a sticker on my El Camino with that phrase.

And I am a genuine geezer with a phone clipped to my belt, and white Reabok walking shoes. The shoes are because I have very wide feet, and they are the only 10EEE shoe I can find off the shelf. I really wish they sold a 10 EEEE because the EEE is rather tight and has to stretch for a few weeks to be comfortable. I have to wear XXXL work gloves and yea, I have a big nose and, never mind.

At so many car shows I see all the young folks all in black t-shirts, on a HOT day. It is just insane to wear all black just to look like your friends, trying to look cool, and just deal with the added heat of black. Whatever, not my problem. I also wear the oversize floppy hat with neck protection. I have had dozens of precancerous lesions burned off at my dermatologist. I wear sunscreen and a big hat and look as hip and cool as Pee Wee Herman. I simply DGAF.

LOL ... over two decades ago my gf (at the time) and I were in Fayetteville, AR for the weekend to see our favorite hippie jam band from CA playing a run of shows in a small club.... folks flew in from 20+ states .... we all saw each other on a semi-regular basis at shows in many states..... but I digress ;).....

We went in a Birkenstock store one afternoon and I was wearing athletic shoes with white socks, shorts, and a tie-dye tee and we each purchased a new pair ..... I insisted on wearing them on the walk back several blocks to our hotel..... with my white socks on .... I did it just to mess with her :D.

When we entered the hotel elevator there were a few folks from Marin Co. that we knew ... I thought my girl wanted to disappear ...

I truly DNGAF .... I was as cool a you can be in a tie-dye tee, shorts, Birkenstocks .... and white socks :)

FYI. I had a problem finding the right width (small but wide feet) and have worn Reebock, but prefer Brooks Beast running shoes for walking and running. They come in 10 4E.

I like the look (look ok for an old dude) and are very comfy to me (probably because they fit like a glove once you figure out the right size. The least expensive ones I have found (with free shipping) are from an EBAY seller. I bought my first pair at a running shoe store (pricey) where I could try them on...which helped get the perfect size. I have worn them for many years and the best prices I can find are from the seller below (who would have ever though a good price for kick would ever be over $100? Makes me feel like a geezer as I guess it is normal now). I have bought several pairs from them.

They have several colors from black to grey but I prefer the grey in the photo below:

I agree. I intend to do my best to avoid it altogether. My mantra:

Do not go gentle into that good night
Dylan Thomas - 1914-1953

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

I must be cool. The only time I look at myself in the mirror is when I shave, and I only shave about once a week.
And I dance more. Not better, but more, and I don't care who's watching.

My goal it to join the big ear club!
Look at a bunch of really old men, and you will see some big ears!

For whatever reason hair on top of the head turns around and stops growing out and it just comes out of ears and eyebrows instead.

I'm 70...how old do I have to be before they stop carding me for beer purchases?

So far that hasn't worked for me. I do get a lot of disrespect for being old with long white hair and wearing work clothes everywhere. The being progressively less caring about cool is definitely my mantra. Hasn't made me any more friends or better treatment and that's fine with me.

I actually dress quite nice when I go to the doctor. Sets me much differently than the people in shorts and flip flops. I do that out of respect for a doctor. In fact, work clothes are better looking than shorts and flip flops. That's just too Walmart for me. My work clothes cost more than a cheap suit. My boots cost more than a not so cheap suit.

I remember when people helped each other. (Well, actually not that much in the city.) They don't here in the sewer at all.
