Do you clean your area after a sporting event?

You are at a game. MLB, NFL etc. A couple of pints and maybe a dog or popcorn.
When you leave, do you gather up your trash or just leave it for the cleaning crew?

Sunflower seeds or peanuts, shells end up on the ground, everything else goes with me.

Of course .... I was raised in a very clean barn :)!

Y'all ever go in these Texas Roadhouse type earing establishments that set out complimentary buckets of peanuts and expect you to discard the shells on the floor? I got over my "home training" ... when in Texas... do as the ..... :D

Back in the day there was a club in NYCs village called the Dugout that put out barrels of peanuts and the shells went straight onto the floor.

At a game I try not to make a mess. Same at a theatre.

We had one of those locally. Peanut shells were all over the floor. As we waited to order, and for our food after the order, I just threw the shells on the floor and smiled at my wife. She was eating peanuts and had them in a nice neat pile in front of her. The waitress came back to refill the iced tea looked at her pile of shells and swiped them all on the floor. I thought it was pretty funny. We took my dad there for his birthday, and he said it was the single toughest steak he had ever tried to eat after a lifetime of eating steaks at home and all over the world. He gave up 1/2 through as his jaws were tired. Mine was tough, but not as bad. We never went back, and they went out of business. There are endless great steak joints in town with good steaks.

I avoid all "sports" especially all of them that have grown men playing a kids game with a ball. We have been to many concerts of the years in arenas. And yea, we pick up the trash. No I don't bother picking up spilled popcorn or small stuff, just any larger trash. At restaurants I will put my utensils and napkin on the plate to make it easier on the waitress. At fast food places, yea, we take all the trash and throw it in the trash can except baskets or trays that are reused.

No. I don't

Why is there any difference between a sports arena and a movie theater? Haven't been to a MT for quite a while but I hope people don't leave drinks with melted ice on the floor. Arenas? IDK, do they have enough trash cans?

Last time I went to a race and sat in the grandstands, the answer was no.

I read this thread differently. When I used to play hockey 3-5 times per week, I would always shower after the game and clean my ‘area’…

LOL ... those peanut shells discarded in your "area" get mighty uncomfortable too :)!

I always found that if you don’t make a mess, then there’s nothing to clean up. Works for me.

Cairo94507 04-19-2023 05:36 AM

No matter where I go, I never leave a mess; I typically pick up around my area too.

^^^^ This. I'll stack my plates with all the utensils, napkins, etc. to be carried away and even wipe the crumbs off the table first.

Except for that Texas joint .... I was a pig with peanut shells :D

One of us will clean up after a "sporting event".

(No one wants to sleep in the wet spot.)

In the Adolphus hotel in downtown Dallas, mere feet from the entrance to where you enter the fanciest restaurant in town (The French Room) was a bar where you used to be able to go have a drink before dining in the restaurant. They gave away free peanuts in the shell, and the floor was covered with the shells. I was always amused at the dichotomy.

I think they have changed things since I was there last and that bar no longer exists as it was.

Most of the time, I would throw away the beer cans that were in the golf cart. Always if I snuck the beer in. Just like a bunker, I try to leave my area as I found it, except places where peanut shells belong on the floor.

As much as I reasonably can. Though in some suites someone else cleans up immediately.

pegasus9 04-19-2023 11:57 AM

Just like when we leave the movie theater we try to clean up our own mess.
