Possible new Netflix series about Antiques.

I was at a shoot today involving some Americana items picked up on a road trip by one of the dealers I do work for. Amongst other items was a 12' long farm table supposedly from 1870. How would anyone know? It was a freakin' farm table.

Anyway, I first saw it 3 weeks ago and it looked more or less like an old wooden bus stop bench on legs. BUT, it was 2 planks wide, each 15 " give or take and a full inch thick. That's some old wood. My job was to bring back the charm. No stripping or sanding, only wax and oils.

It was pre sold by texts and pics to a L.A. based designer sight unseen. She looked at it here after the first go round and said the legs and aprons were too reddish. She was right, somewhat.

So I did some more of my schtick and added some green to a very dark walnut wax and turned it around about a week ago. The reveal was this morning and she loved it. $5k changed hands on camera. That's part of the drama the film maker is cooking up.

Before the reveal, I was filmed bringing in my portable furniture touch up stuff piled high on an old Radio Flyer wagon. 12 times I pulled the wagon a few feet and then through the warehouse door, each for another camera angle. Then I ran a waxer back and forth for 30 minutes of shooting. I think it's waxed.

Frankly, the rest went down with 2-3 takes as we discussed the project and then I stepped aside while the dealer and client rambled on and on.

If this becomes a show, I bet I get 20 seconds of screen time. No big deal, I was in and out loaded up after 2 1/2 hours. The cinematographer had some way cool gear and shared a bit with me like the slo-o he was doing.

Imagine, slomo waxing coming to your TV soon (a year).

Cool.

I have a camera that can shoot a slo mo video but I haven't tried it yet.

Let us know when they plan to air it.

The producer has to sell it first. I think it's big talk to say 'Netflix' but apparently he has some film at the festivals. I don't see this as a great concept. That would be your basic "American Pickers" with the emphasis on who buys and where it goes and why.

AP focused on the finds and how much they turned in profit. A total BS show but interesting nevertheless. Now the focus is not on the seller who has 7 barns full of crap, but the buyer.

This show needs some work. The amount of cash on the table is just one hook. I was impressed at seeing 5K. I got $200 to wax it.
