“The day the music died” RIP Gordon…

The soundtrack of your lives...
Back in the 70's one of the first songs I learned was how to pick out "Rainy Day People" on my acoustic out of the "Gord's Gold" book. My book is in tatters now, but I still have it. |
Sometimes I think it's a shame when I get feeling better when I'm feeling no pain...
Rest In Peace Gordon Lightfoot Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk |
He was part of the soundtrack of my youth.

Gord's Gold, my brother has that too. Of course, he can play like freakin' David Gilmour

This thread has reminded me .... tho' I never had any of GL's albums, he got plenty of listens from the radio back in the 70s ... stuff I had disremembered.
He truly was part of the soundtrack of my youth.... And left quite a legacy :) |
LEGEND.
RIP, great talent is gone from the earth. Tough day in Canadian music with the passing of Tim Bachman as well. Cheers |

Some of the best flawed hero brutally honest lyrics ever:
If I could read your mind, love What a tale your thoughts could tell Just like a paperback novel The kind the drugstore sells When you reach the part where the heartaches come The hero would be me But heroes often fail And you won't read that book again Because the ending's just too hard to take I'd walk away like a movie star Who gets burned in a three way script Enter number two, a movie queen to play the scene Of bringing all the good things out in me But for now, love, let's be real I never thought I could act this way And I've got to say that I just don't get it I don't know where we went wrong But the feeling's gone and I just can't get it back |

I was struck with The Way I Feel on The Cowboy Junkies last album. Turns out it's a cover of a 1966 Gordon Lightfoot song (I like it better than the original, personally). Beautiful song! You'll be missed, Gordon!
