So why a $7.5 million bond....
for that suspected killer they captured down in Texas? I just don't get it....
NO BOND! .... you ain't going nowhere even if someone does come up with 750K (10%) (drug cartels, etc. this is pocket change) for him to get out. Why? |

'cause when he's bailed out and then killed, the $750k will go a long way to covering the costs the state has incurred up to now. Plus, saves a lot of money on the prosecution/defense, the 20+ yr reside on death row, the appeals, and the cost of the death juice injection. Not that I'm for the death penalty (killing by the state), but the fine folks in Texas do and this is a Texas matter.

If Sam Bankman Fried was able to make his $250 million bail for the FTX debacle I would think $7.5mm would be a walk in the park.

Remember that $10 B was 'stolen' right before the case went public. No money has changed hands and none will unless Mr. Bankman-Fried fails to show up for court or is found to have violated other conditions set by the judge. In that case, his parents’ house in Palo Alto, Calif., which was used to secure the bond, could be seized by the government. The four people who are to co-sign the bond, including one nonfamily member, would be on the hook for the rest of the $250 million. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/23/nyregion/sbf-bail-agreement-explained.html

While I agree with the sentiment of Jame's post above ... 750K (10%) is chump change to the drug cartels. If that guy gets out he'll be in Mexico lickety-split.
He should not be released .... period. |

I haven't heard of any connections, tho' he's been deported back 4 times before, was armed with an AR, and doesn't seem to fit the mold of an honest agriculture worker.
I just thought no bond/bail would be applied in a case like this .... they were just lucky to get him before he vamoosed across imo. |

A bond of any value should not be an option for this guy!
