anyone who uses google mail notice
 

that starting on May 1 they are posting ad emails at the top of the "updates" inbox? every time I visit it there are two spam email ads that regenerate each time i open it.

i did find you can delete them w/o opening the email by hovering to the right of the subject line there is a delete icon. you cannot report them as spam or other options that accompany regular, non-google generated emails.

like the google mail platform, won't cause me go elsewhere, but was surprised after all these years they are doing this.

Are you using an app, or just a native browser? I use the latter, and see nothing that you refer too .... and gmailhell's spam filters have turned out to be awesome imo. Not a fan of groogle, but I got suckered in WAY before anyone else had even heard of 'em, but I use a Duck now ;).

Won't move away from GM either .... been using it since it was in beta testing and you needed an "invite" to join....

Never trust a hippie chick ... (her boyfriend back then was like employee 63 .... the original chef).... cool folks and we loved the same music/band .... saw them quite often at shows.

edited: I'm using Chrome on a 'droid phone in incognito mode with no ad blockers, etc. Fwiw....

I'm not seeing any ads, but then again I'm running an ad blocker so maybe that's why.
Microsoft has been doing the same for a long time, the top "email" is an ad, and the right side of the screen is an ad, except in my case where the space says "It looks like you're using an ad blocker. To maximize the space in your inbox, sign up for Ad-Free Outlook."

I use an app to pull my mail from gmail, but also can/do have the webpage open. I don't see or have what you're talking about.

Do you have an active search?

Can you provide a partial screen capture showing what you're talking about without sharing anything that you don't want to share?

I do not use any ad blocker. 1st two email in the inbox shot here.

Been getting those for quite a while (>1 year) in every inbox except the 'primary'. They're not ads like popups, but more like promotional email messages generated by Google. BTW I get different promos on my phone than on my 'puter. Different algos, I guess.
