Undersink tankless hot water heater?

Any experience?
For some reason it takes forever to get hot water in the kitchen. Much longer than anywhere else in the house.
I was thinking of a tankless under the sink hot water heater- "instant" on hot water.
I only have 120V in the area.
Need 1.5 gal/minute or so.
I see lots of units listed. They are inexpensive- which usually means they do not work.
Any experience? Brands?
Thanks again.
This forum is very helpful.

I’m not sure you’ll find any kind of instant hot water heater, with volume, other than something that provides hot water but for small beverages. I could be wrong, but I’ve not seen one.

Also, the power for the Insta hot or water heater should be a dedicated line, not something in common with the disposal or dishwasher.

I have an InSinkErator brand and it works well. Only use it for occasional cup of hot tea, so not heavy use. Actually just replaced the original because tank had a small leak - it lasted about 10 years. Also have a water chiller with it, so instant hot and chilled water on a dual faucet.

We have a whole house hot water system. It takes forever for the hot water to reach the kitchen, furthest away from the heater. We looked into these https://www.bestproductsreviews.com/under-sink-water-heater?targetid=&matchtype=&device=c&campaignid=18761032227&creative=&adgroupid=&feeditemid=&loc_physical_ms=9011304&loc_interest_ms=&network=x&devicemodel=&placement=&keyword=$&target=&aceid=&adposition=&trackid=us_all_top_1_1&mId=407-132-4411&trackOld=true&gclid=CjwKCAjwjMiiBhA4EiwAZe6jQzkgaqSr4sKDgWDNLwJh INNtc7w6N7OXePJEz2wHn0QYm98_B3wd4xoCqtMQAvD_BwE

The general opinion is they work fine, but burn out after several years. They hold enough hot water, but the elements take a beating.

They use those little ones in foreign countries where they mount them somewhere above the kitchen sink. I suppose it can go under the sink cabinet. I suggest getting the smallest tankless heater mounted near the sink area on the outside of the house and have just that for hot sink water. Wait time should be 10-20 seconds.

I have two 5-gallon electric tank units in my office. No place to put a full size HW heater so I mounted one unit under the bath vanity, one under the lunchroom sink. They work fine for their intended use hot water is nearly instantaneous as they are just inches from the tap.

I also had a 5 gallon per minute electric on demand unit installed in a one bedroom no washer or dishwasher in a rental unit. It was astronomically expensive to run. I had it removed after two months.

Not sure either of these answers are exactly what you are looking to do but I hope the information helps.

Thanks for the ideas- I will ask about a recirculating pump.
Local plumber I asked about getting hot water to the sink was clueless.
Thanks for the ideas

Do not put those little things that attaches to the hot and cold water under sink. Recirc. pump requires returns lines separate from the feed lines. Ask a real plumber. You do have a traditional water heater and not tankless?

Correct, a traditional water heater.
Old large 5400sq ft home. Lived here 30yrs- nothing has changed, just I am cooking more and the hot water at the kitchen sink is annoying.
I did ask our local plumber- and he had no help or suggestions.
The undersink tankless system was just a wild idea. We have plenty of room, but only 120 power under there.

Ah so. Must be used in a lab. Sort of a Bunsen burner with an after burner.

When I was in the UK we had a hot water heater for the shower. A small electric box that heated the water fast enough to have a good shower. 240 volts though.

Jeeze I got a good memory. The brand was Triton.

I installed an insinkerator tank in my parents kitchen. Digital temp control and its instant. Fine for coffee/tea. Downside the water is kept hot so radiates a bit of heat.

Imagine how long a kettle takes to boil at 1750watts… tankless kitchen would need 220v for reasonable hot flow.

At work the bathrooms (huge office building) have undersink heaters for the sinks. I think it should be possible to get something that works. I can't remember if they are 120V, but I think they are plugged into ordinary outlets.

We have a tankless Insinkerator Instahot. And it gets hot, in a hurry and keeps flowing. Going on 6 years of daily use!
