How are you guys cleaning auto carpet ?
So I have all the seats pulled for reupholstery in my 1999 Porsche 996 C4 . The carpet is gray in color . No obvious spills or stains . I want to give it a good vacuum and then a shampoo .
In the past I have used general purpose auto shampoo . You spray then scrub it in with a brush then vacuum . It works OK. My oldest son has a small Bissel carpet shampoo machine that I am going to borrow and try . Soap solution goes in one tank , then hose nozzle applies soap solution then scrub and vacuum . Sounds easy enough . Any other tips ? |

One great tip I found was to use a orbital sander or buffer with out a disc to shake up all the dirt tha's imbedded. I couldn't believe how much dirt and sand came up. .

I've never done this, but I've seen a slew of these videos.

Use shop air ( compressor ) if one is available to fluff the carpet, loosen up fibers and embedded dirt & crap. Vacuum thoroughly. If there are stains, address those next. Best product hands-down is called 'Spot-Shot' ( aerosol spray ) that turns into foam, follow directions. Then use a carpet steam cleaner with hand attachment. Don't go overboard with the amount of hot water volume - you don't want to saturate the mat / backing. Then use a portable fan to circulate air so to speedy dry.

Edit, get it nice and wet and that bissel will do its job on it own. I do two rinses jsut so the ground in dirt is loosen up so the bissel can get it all out. Forget your hand brushing.. Chuck this thing in your cordless drill. It works wonders. The trick is to get it wet enough so all the loose, ground in dirt is suspended in water so the bissel can pick it up. https://www.amazon.com/Attachment-Bathroom-Surfaces-Scrubber-Cleaning/dp/B09THS3QV2/ref=sr_1_16?crid=F5AQ736OP0DK&keywords=drill+brush&qid=1684610015&sprefix=drill+brush%2Caps%2C202&sr=8-16 Last edited by look 171; 05-20-2023 at 11:15 AM.. |
