Vintage Jaguar Wrenches: Garrington

Rainy day here so I spent the afternoon organizing/cleaning my shops...it never ends.

I found two old Garrington (at least one is) wrenches, see below.

I did a quick search and they seem to be desirable.

The last time I found something like this, JoeA got them...happy to give them to Joe or the next Jag person. They were either my Father's or my Uncles, who owned an XK-120.

I'll give Joe a day then the next person who wants them gets them, gratis. If it fits, it ships.

I don't have a Jag, but I love this sort of old historic memorabilia, especially tools. If Joe doesn't claim them or you don't get an old jag owner.... Amazing bit of history

If you've got a tool roll for a McLaren F1 laying around full of titanium spanners, let me know.

Like many families that have owned ranches and farms, you lose track of the sheer number of tools that get handed down...I can tell you that Byron and Bob, and their Dad, were complete gear monsters. Three of the pics were taken at my Grandfathers house on Lamson Road in Castro Valley.

Very cool!

Neither of my grandfathers did any wrenching. Dad was the only gear head in the family that I'm aware of. I've got his tools, but since he was in the Navy, we didn't have a lifetime-lived-in-house full of stuff. I have a few of one of my grandfather's tools. He was into woodworking. My other grandfather's stuff, I assume mostly went to my uncle.

Cool...maybe put them in a frame to honor and remember your uncle? If not, I'm sure there's a collector of old Jags out there somewhere who would love them. Maybe a Hemmings ad?

I've got a Jag.............

I have a Jaguar XJS convertible! Would love to have those two wrenches to go in the tool kit! I'll even pay you back for the shipping charges! It is even done up in British Racing Green!

I always love the generosity of the people on this board. It's a board unlike any I frequent. The Garage Journal is pretty close, but PP is the gold standard.

You're an ace, Seahawk

Holding old tools for me somehow makes a connection with previous generations. I became the caretaker of my MIL's grandfather's tools. My favorites among them are a mill file which cuts amazingly well and a draw knife for which I turned new handles.( the originals were long gone) At times when I pick them up it almost feels like he is looking over my shoulder.

Best

My Mother's 1st husband drove a XK-120 off a mountain.
I currently have a XJR in the garage with a blown head gasket . One day I will fix and juice it up.
I am also interested in the wrenches

Shipped to Fred yesterday.

I did him a HUGE favor: There was a lot of ugly patina on the wrenches so I ground that crap off with a wire wheel.

They look great!

I'm kidding

Jaguar wrenches..........

Got the two wrenches a couple of days ago. Was surprised that they were marked in SAE values instead of Whitworth. I did spray them with some oil and then wiped them down with a clean cloth. The patina is still there but now they don't make your hand turn brown! Many thanks to Seahawk!

Here is what they look like in their natural environment.
My MK9 jag. door has a pocket for this kind of wrenches.

LOL!

I'm in several old tool facebook groups on facebook. Folks absolutely hate when a wirewheel is used on tools. They also hate when vinegar is used.
