Memorial Day Movie Recommendation - "Taking Chance"
Today is about remembering and honoring the warfighters who sacrificed their lives to protect our nation's way of life.

Outstanding film. I led an officer professional development on the article and film several years ago. Was hoping to instill in some of our junior officers a sense of understanding how they lived in a bubble in the JAG Corps and there are those that have a much tougher row to hoe. We had a discussion about the process of repatriating the remains and other actions before watching the film.

I was hitchhiking on a USAF flight back from Vietnam one time and they were carrying some very special cargo on one particular flight. It stopped at Dover AFB in Delaware where the main DOD mortuary is for returning deceased members. Since we had a long turn around time there, we were invited to take a tour of the facility. It was a sobering experience, but I can't say how professional the people there that we met were. I could not have done their job.
