ZeroEnigma riding a bicycle in NYC
I can watch this all day.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/2rJuKRDvyd0" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe> I can see his point. People are clueless and need to pay attention. I think he posts a vid once a week. |
That narrator is an a-hole... sort of deserves a well timed stick in the spokes
He berates pedestrians... Walking was a form of transportation for eons before a bicycle was invented... In the transportation hierarchy pedestrians have the right of way... I drove in Manhattan yesterday for the first time in many years... Bicycle delivery /messengers have little or no respect for rules of the road... They swarm intersections, ride against traffic....ride on the sidewalk... And get this... NYC has spent millions of tax dollars to implement Bike lanes... And often time the Bicyclists ignore the real estate provided for them at huge expense. Wish I had a dashcam to provide another view |
I agree TimT, I watched 16 minutes of it, without the sound being on, turned it on for a few minutes just to verify my 'soundless' impression. He rides like an entitled bicyclist.

I really don't know how he's lasted as long as that video shows.

You guys should watch more. He yells at people walking in the bike lanes, cars not using turn signals, trucks parked in the bike lane, bicycles riding the wrong way, cars blocking intersections.
|
With the amount of people crammed into the space of NYC....it's no wonder everyone can't follow the letter of the law.
The biker is prob gonna get in a good fight sooner or later. |

A lot of bicycle messengers/delivery people "dive bomb" an intersection when a light turns yellow, so instead of slowing and using caution, they get up off the seat and try to build speed and make it across the intersection before lights change.. Why isn't this behavior being shown? Come to NYC and observe.. |
I get alarmed when riding out here in my ex-urban environment. Riding in NYC looks terrifying.

Guy on the bike is an Azzhold. Those are the people who will call God if the sky starts to rain. They were born unhappy. Another butt head that needs to get hit by a school bus

LOL...Must? its NYC...Come and check it out for yourself,... |
Sorry, Otto, but this guy's angry about everything. I see all this stuff on a daily basis on my bike. Life's too short to yell at every rulebreaker on the road.
|
I agree with ZeroEnigma in principle but I wouldn't do what he's doing.
Its NYC so everyone is a A_hat.. meh.. I still find the videos entertaining. |

there are rules but lots of people don't bother so you have chaos Every time I do a road trip to Vermont I'd like to stop in NYC for a visit but I know the the traffic is going to suck so I keep going north. I'll have to research a visit so I know the best way to get in and see the sights without getting stuck in a quagmire. |
Guy is a jackass, and I bike every day
|
One reason I like this guys videos is I get a ground view of NYC with all the normal people going about their day. I find it appealing and revolting at the same time.
|
That guy is good example of why people do not like cyclists. Could not get through three minutes of that. Maybe with the sound turned off.
|
Quite a contrast as to my bike rides.
I smile and say 'Hi' or wave to everyone I meet on the trails or streets. It's almost always returned with the same. |

at 18:57 he's yelling at cops :D |

sooner or later...someone is going to take offence at being called 'cum catcher'
I hope it happens sooner. |
I gave it five minutes.
Two observations: He's an *** hole and NYC is a **** hole. |
^This...+++
|
It does nicely illustrate the impetus for my lack of interest in ever going to NYC
|
Bicyclists in NYC are 99.9% ass hats. Not to mention the jerk offs on electric scooter and mini bikes.
The chances they take are nuts, weaving in and out and trying to squeeze thru traffic. I have seen two people get severely injured while trying to turn right inside a truck and the curb, the appear out of no where from behind the truck then magically appear in the turn. Stoopid No bueno. But it's the motorists fault. So, I sent the dashcam footage to the drivers to make their case. |
He does travel at a pretty good pace too but in my experience he's not that unusual for a big city denizen.
|
I'm going to frame this in the eyes of ZeroEnigma..
so for everyone here who once had to commute to work So you drive to work and every day other people routinely stand in the middle of the street or delivery trucks and taxis parking in your lane or people driving against the direction of traffic pedestrians crossing your path without looking ie jaywalking or other vehicles not signaling lane changes or turns I'm sympathetic to this guy. The only traffic laws I see him breaking are going thru red lights after he makes sure the path is clear and safe. For the most part he has the right of way. |
I commuted on my bike for years and years and years and years and years. I'm retired now, but even now I can hardly remember a day I haven't been on a bike either for transportation or recreation. (And I don't dawdle. I'm usually in a hurry and trying to make time)
I've seen every single one of the bad behaviors in the first video and countless others. I've ridden with people like this guy, all aggro and belligerent, hair trigger temper, fists and fingers flying. I hate it. To me, this guy is doing it wrong. I know he thinks he has to assert himself to be safe; I choose to put my head on a swivel, and then use the agility of the bicycle to remove myself from conflict, rather than meeting conflict head on and then magnifying the exchange with verbal abuse. Maybe this is how it has to be done in NYC; I wouldn't know. But this behavior is a train wreck to me. |
New Yorkers are our version of Parisians. They think they're so much better than the rest of the country. The New York metro area has a tad over 5000 people/sq mile. I'd like to visit someday but I need to study it.
|
You have to understand the delivery bike culture. It's different for sure, but he's no different.
(edit) The fixie revolution took big in NY and some say the NY bikers are more or less responsible for the popularity outside the track racing community. They may be hybrid bikes with one brake but I wouldn't count on it. When not working some of these cats alley race. They are outlaws. Well, that's obvious, but the point is this is not one guy. |

at 1:48 he passes a cop blocking the bike path and tells him "good job" cop gets butt hurt and follows, ZE purposefully blows thru a red light and the cop tries to pull him over where ZE sucessfully evades and posts the encounter on youtube kids, don't do this at home |
