Having a hard time finding my Dream car
Hello everyone,
I have lurked here for years, even before joining the forums. I have owned many cars in the last 10 years, but ONE is my favorite and the "one that got away." A 2004-2007 Subaru STi - I couldn't buy one when they were new, and it has been a long time dream to acquire one (hopefully a blue/gold 05) with close to original delivery mileage that I could keep (literally) for my entire life. I have been looking since 2015 for one just like that after missing on a 160 mile 05 back in 2011 by thirty minutes and poor communication from the dealership employee (shocker right) and have aquired a bunch of Subaru dealership memorabilia from the early 2000s so when I get the car I can design its living space in my garage to look like its still in the dealer. Yes I am crazy Anyways as a desperation attempt I figured I would post here and maybe someone has or knows of what I am looking for. Of course I would make sure to show my gratitude to anyone who could connect me with one.....Anyways, shoot me a PM if you know of or have one. Looking to finally get what would make all my sacrifices worth it to me and put an end to a nearly decade long search. |

Remember that a 2004 Subaru STI is nearly 20 years old, and they live pretty hard lives. Trashed by young boy racer types...

If you haven't already, find some online Subaru owner sites with discussion forums and "For Sale" boards. Look on Facebook for the same.
Also, ask your local Subie dealership put out some feelers. You might be surprised what they can turn up. There's nothing wrong with hoping for one with extremely low mileage, but you're probably gonna need to lower your expectations on that. Go for the best one you can find and afford. Be sure to get a PPI done. Then if it checks out, go ahead and jump on it. Don't be so picky about color... what you want is the driving experience... you don't want to hold out for perfection and never get to realize the fun you could have by being realistic about everything. Also make sure you have an honest independent Subie mechanic in the area. They're worth their weight in gold. Are there any magazines that focus on Subaru's? Check the magazine rack at your local Barnes and Noble.

This is going to be a needle in a haystack quest. Those cars got HAMMERED.
I get it. They are cool. Good luck! |

I had a 2004 WRX and took an STI out on a test drive from the dealer in Reno on the winding mountain roads there and was mightily impressed with it. I can see why you'd want one!
I've heard Facebook has become a good source for cars- I'm sure you're watching it. Bring A Trailer is probably worth saving a search on: https://bringatrailer.com/subaru/wrx-sti/?q=subaru+sti I see these: https://www.walnutcreekmotorcars.com/used-cars-SUBARU-IMPREZA-WRX-2005-891920 These places seems to carry them: https://www.cascademotorspdx.com/ https://www.wsmwa.com/ https://www.goldboyzautosales.com/inventory/view/16985864/2006-Subaru-Other-2.5-WRX-STi-w/Gold-Wheels https://www.amkoauto.com/auto/used-2006-subaru-impreza-wrx-sti-near-laurel-md/60973286/ https://www.novakmotorcars.com/inventory/subaru/impreza/substi001/ https://www.volocars.com/auto-sales/vehicles?q%5Bmake_eq%5D=Subaru&q%5Byear_eq%5D=2007

Had an 04 Sti, loved that car. It seemed so crazy fast at the time but times have changed a bit.
They made a bajillion of them. Sure most were beat and many are rusted underneath, but there are still plenty of nice ones. You just have to be willing to pay over MSRP for a 20YO economy based car.

West Coast cars so rust shouldn't be an issue. Not all are your color picks but there are a couple of blue/golds.
