I don't understand gambling. I don't understand 114k bet on a pool game or a 10k bet on a street race.

It's a pool tradition...but is it really gambling? Or is it a contest of skill with money on the line? Actually, Fedor (guy commenting) said it was a hill-hill race to 9. Translation...first to win 9 games, wins the money, and they'd each won 8 games, so "hill-hill". The video is of the 17th and deciding rack played.

It is a tradition, but that doesn't mean that it's not gambling. There's certainly more skill involved, but if it's two highly skilled players, then it could potentially go either way. There's always some chance involved in this sort of thing. Even a boxing match between 2 highly skilled boxers would still be gambling.

There was a court ruling at the state level on this debate. Forget which state's supreme court made the ruling, but not gambling, rather a contest involving skill. A damned fine line, isn't it? I never bet. I know fully well that any game people play can be and has been rigged.

If I'm playing pool and bet on myself, I don't think it's gambling..... it's more like charity :D!
