iPhone 7 plus, GPS issues

Recently whilst driving home from destinations 5-10 miles away my GPS goes all wonky...estimated travel time shows 3 hours for 20 minute drive, it sends me in circles, cursor doesn't track etc....outbound no issues with gradual degrades. Issues stop after getting home.

Software is up to-date, internal settings are fine, I've turned the power on and off..... IT IS an an older phone but I keep it clean and there no issues on connected devices.

Should I switch my Google maps to another service?

My service provider is Mint. They have no clue.

It may well be the GPS chip itself. It is a little bitty part that is a real antique for a computer or smartphone. The iPhone 14 is the current version, so you are a bit behind. Apple may go broke if you don't upgrade eventually!

The iPhone is from 2016. 7 years is an antique!

I still have my iPhone original, but I don't use it. I am using my iPhone 11 still.

If you're running an iPhone 7, your software is only going to be somewhat up to date.

Try Waze.

I am running an iPhone 7 plus and have recently had the same problem with the GPS getting confused when using the Waze app. Today it was fine until I cancelled the route I was on but then began zooming out and moving locations until I just slosed the app altogether. I reopened Waze and it was fine again for the rest of my trip.

Updated to ios 15.7.6 today. We'll see if that helps the GPS.
