Car flying through air during highway crash

Just a good old boys
Never meanin' no harm
Beats all you never saw
Been in trouble with the law since the day they was born

Straightening the curves, yeah
Flattenin' the hills
Someday the mountain might get 'em, but the law never will

Makin' their way the only way they know how
That's just a little bit more than the law will allow

Makin' their way the only way they know how (yeah)

Hey, I watched the Gone in 60 seconds remake and a Mustang can make that jump, and keep on driving and get away from the cops!

That lady had to be busy texting and driving, and certainly not paying attention to the road. What an idiot.

Is that the car launching off a ramp truck? That was cool

sc_rufctr 05-31-2023 01:52 PM

Wow... Hollywood would be proud.

(The amount of ads on "Some web sites" is truly ridiculous... And then they wonder why people use an ad blocker )

JackDidley 05-31-2023 02:25 PM

I admit it. Ive been wanting to try that ever since I started driving.

Hey now. I was 12/13 when "The Dukes..." were hot, and I loved the show. I had the hot wheels, a plastic model of the General Lee, and the 45 of the theme song.

I've seen crappy copies of the video on YT and/or FB a few times in the last 24-48 hours, but that was a good copy. At first, in the crappy copy, I thought it was fake, but it looked more real in this copy than I expected.

It was a flatbed truck with the back down to get the other car loaded. Pretty impressive how well it held up.

Yes, on all counts.

I think the best part is these three.

Here's another angle

But this one is the best

That was a rough attempt at passing the other car.

Maybe. Anyone else wishing this was a multi camera shoot so we could see the reaction of the driver as the car flew over his head?

I was a couple-three years younger.

This is still my favorite part of the intro. Let me know if you can guess why.

The rolloff was parked in the fast/passing lane, no flares, barriers, cones etc. Lowered bed blocks the tail lights:

Heck I did it in my 914 and did not bend a single part!

A nice soft landing, back in 1981 or so.

Nah, it was a driver that was distracted by all of the commotion on the other side of the road. They were cruising along at normal speed, didn't slow down, and was looking to their left at the flashy lights and accidents. Cars have a tendency to go where the driver is looking. I'll bet that in a split second, they were far less distracted by the other lanes.

Yeah, now that you mention it, I didn't see anything, including an emergency vehicle (cop, etc...) on that side. I guess it was possibly better than if the truck hadn't had it's bed lowered. If the car had plowed into the back of the truck at 60 or 70, they'd have probably been decapitated. I'll bet it was a surprise for the car that it almost landed on. It looked like it may have bumped the back of the other car, but I can't tell for sure.

jamesnmlaw 05-31-2023 05:10 PM

Some of the Po-Pos should have parked behind the tow truck, like a 100 yds or so. This'll probably be in the training films for a while. Tow truck drivers have very high OTJ death rate.

A930Rocket 05-31-2023 05:28 PM

That tow truck with the bed down, was an accident waiting to happen.

jamesnmlaw 05-31-2023 06:38 PM

Yeah, everyone will sue everyone else. A lot of liability in that video.

Didn't look like the tow truck had any emergency lights on. Why the f' did the tow truck driver think it a good idea to park on the highway (should have pulled to the grass median). Looked like he was playing with a phone or something just standing in front of the tow truck.

How did the driver of the car not see the big truck in the road? Playing with a cell phone? DWI?

Looked like plenty of FRs so why didn't one or two drive down a couple of hundreds yards behind the tow truck and turn on emergency lights?

No liability but that headache rack sure bent compliantly.

Yeah, coolest thing I've seen in a while. Got some good air and distance but didn't stick the landing.
