Massage guns??

Anybody here have or have used a Massage gun? Both the PT tech and the acupuncturist I went to today used one of these things on my Piriformis muscle. It is supposed to increase blood flow so the muscle can heal, and it really whacks away at you. They recommend I get one and use it daily. They range in price from $40 to hundreds.
Any recommendations?

We have one of these massagers, and it works really well on knotted muscles.

I think a wired version is likely to give the best results.

But maybe the guns are better.

I've had a couple $20-30 Homedics which have worked great. Big thumpers.
Some have IR light and get fancy but they work best over light clothing or a sheet.

If you can find a spa with a Korean Migun massage bed I would highly recommend it.

Had one and had issue with Priformis also. Ended up making the Piriformis worse. Re-focusd on the Psoas which hinted Piriformis was fine. Three layers deep the problem was actually a Bursa causing all three to become inflamed. No more machine gun. Switched to floor surfing with 5 inch ball filled with sand. 3 1-/2 years later fine. Stopped listening to PT's and bought a book titled Built from Broken by Scott Hogan. One thing I learned not from the book is Piriformis and Psoas issues are usually from sitting for extended periods. These require release not pounding.

Actually the machine guns are good on biceps, calves, traps. Was still a good $50 investment.

My grandmother was VERY proud of her (circa 1918) SEARS vibrator.

She told me it wasn't safe to plug it in. I was ten years old.

....That's a true story.

I know the ones you are talking about, after my accident, they used one on me and I couldn't believe how much it helped me. I have been back and forth with PT over the years and have been this is one of the biggest improvements I've seen.

The Oster Stim U-Lax that Barber shops used were the bomb. Strap it to your hand, arm, foot, calve. It would scare the hell out of dogs.

Vibrator trivia -

The vibrator was invented to relieve doctors, whose fingers were frequently cramped from treating "hysteria" in female patients. Afterwards, it became a popular household appliance to help women treat themsleves.

Saw that on the History Channel

My guns don't need massaging but I do clean them after a trip to the range.

I dated a girl once that would bring over a big corded massager in a canvas bag. The type that was comparable to the one posted above.

Anyways. I'm using it on my shoulder one night, not thinking anything of it. When she walks in andddddd just about died from the rage of laughter.

That hysteria can get out of hand.

When I was doing 200-250 weekly last year, I was always massaging my poor legs for blood flow for better recovery. Bought one of those gun to get into the areas around my ankles. It worked wonders relieving the soreness in 15-20 min.

Get one with different tips. I use the sharp, 3/4" ball tip often to get into the areas around my ankle and under my arch on my foot. I have flat feet.

The Theragun is the great one but it's about $300. Seems to have a longer throw than the cheaper ones.

I have one of the "mebak" amazon brands and it's pretty good for $100 but I did have to get a replacement battery after about a year or so.

My calves were bad news and a few moderately intense and painful days with one of these things was a real game changer.

Usually I just wipe some Hoppe's oil on them with a rag and call it good, never thought about massaging it into them. Does it last longer?

If you massage your 9mm just right it'll turn into a .44.
