Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

Like the first, visually stunning but with even more energy than the first. Surprisingly emotional, sort of 5 movies in 1 but they all work together, will need to see it 2 to 4 times to get all of the easter eggs, cultural effects and nuances sprinkled throughout, fantastic character and story development and total sensory overload.

Truly shocked it was fresh and interesting compared to the first which was brilliant.

Trailer is 1/100,000 of the movie.

Rare that both critics and real people agree on a movie

It was good, though I liked the first one more. The intro with Gwen dragged a bit, but overall it was good with a lot of fun surprises.

As an aside: a NYC police captain makes $120k/year, and an ER nurse makes $90k. Miles and Gwen's home life was a bit gritty. (Yeah, I know it's a comic book/cartoon)

In NYC $210k is peanuts.

I sort of agree with you both on Gwen and liking the first better. On Gwen, 2/3 into her backstory I was enjoying it and then felt it was getting a little long. but something changed and fell back into her story.

Have gone back and forth on 1st vs. 2nd. First was fresh and new and brilliant. Second was just brilliant and I really like the plot twists and surprises. So maybe a draw for me.

The proof will be in the 3rd movie. They did such a great job with this one, I have to think they are going to nail the third.

Lot of cheering in the audience throughout the movie, everyone clapped at the end, enthusiastically. No end of credits scene which was a shame. Peter's baby would have been good for that.

On your point about salary vs. gritty. True NY'ers grow up gritty and when they find an apartment at their current grit level, they keep it for life, 30 years of grit and all.
