60 Years Ago Today.....
....The Beatles touched down in America for the first time.
The one regret I have...I never went to see them in concert. But I did watch their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/the-beatles-america-jfk-fans-120029821.html The reporters questions were terrible.

I wonder if anyone on here was fortunate enough to see them at a concert live?

Pop music was changed forever...
Steve, a guy on the Bullitt Mustang board said he & his sis went to their stadium concert in Ohio...reported that the sound was horrible, couldn't really hear the music with the bad amps & speakers and girls screaming. Here's from the first Ed Sullivan: (edit) embed too big...a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jenWdylTtzs&ab_channel=TheBeatlesVEVO

About 55 bucks today. And it would be lousy sound and a very short show. Maybe get laid, though. Plenty of females.
But I agree, having a pair of Shea Stadium tickets would be a nice keepsake.

I don't think $55 would get much for a concert now a days. Let alone the Beatles. ![]()

Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour can range from $500 to $7,000 per ticket.

I like local shows in small clubs. I saw the Delta Bombers last Friday - a rockabilly band out of Vegas that I really like. 22 bucks, and I had a terrific time, met two of the guys from the band, enjoyed the live music experience without all the modern pitfalls.
There's no interest here in seeing 'major acts' anymore.

Back then, the Beatles were only on stage for about 30 minutes. But in that era of package-tours, there were several support acts that came on before them.
From Wiki ↓ Promoter Sid Bernstein said, "Over 55,000 people saw the Beatles at Shea Stadium. We took $304,000, the greatest gross ever in the history of show business." The Beatles received $160,000 for their performance, which equated to $100 for each second they were on stage.

I'd love to jump in a time machine and see the Beatles when they played in Hamburg.
