Congrats on being such a great caretaker for 23-years.

I hope to still have the same passion at 70!

stevej37 06-14-2023 08:07 AM

^^^ Thanks
The older I get...the faster the years go by. But 70 feels no diff than 60.
I sometimes have to go thru the arithmetic again to make sure I didn't skip 10 years.:D

I'll be 69 this year and my wife wants to retire next year. Thinking it's time to sell also. If things work out, we'll be in Spain 6 or so months out of the year. I've also owned my SC for over 20 years. Very difficult decision. Wouldn't be as hard if I had 2 like you did. :)

Every year, the SC sat more time in the garage than the year before. Not right for the car.
The guy who bought it is half my age...the car will get driven as it should be.

I also have 2 911's, I bought my 1986 Carrera as intended to flip....I've now owned it 8 years! I'm a slow flipper...when I drive it to the hardware store and take a look back at it I find it very hard to sell it off
My other 911 is a 1973 so they are very different to drivehttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1686778886.jpg

I'll bet there is.....even between my 78 and 84 is a huge difference.

Had 2 911s for 20 years, sold both. :)
Great experience now onto other car adventures. :)

Mine has been at my mechanics for 2 weeks waiting to have the suspension refreshed. It’s never been gone for more than a day and I’m lost without it. I’m depressed not seeing it out in the garage. Was thinking of selling for a new Cayman or something but now I can’t imagine not having it. But, no way I would want to worry about having an extra one. No thanks. Congrats on freeing your mind and and getting a little richer. I would have kept the SC instead but I guess I’m biased :-)

I like it when my cars sell themselves. :)

One morning I called my buddy while he was in his car going to a cars and coffee with his friend.
Through a miscommunication on the speaker call he thought I said I wanted to sell my 86 turbo look.
The guy that was riding shot gun with him turns out had been looking for a 911 like mine.
Soon after we agreed on a price and his friend now owns my old turbo look.
That was an easy sell, other than jumping through a few hoops and getting a Porsche certification from the local Porsche dealer.

Years ago Jamie Lipman took a few night shots of my old RSR+.

The brakes are probably identical.
Your Carrera brakes need servicing
A correct Carrera brake pedal is rock hard

Drove kids to school in the sc from preschool to 3rd grade. Then i bought the 930 and sold the sc, same color, more power, whats not to love?

Trailer arranged to pick up car at their school so we had one last rainy morning drive to school.

My younger son told me now 20! years later that he remembers standing in the playground crying as he watched the sc get loaded into the car carrier.

Now that the SC is gone...I have time to take better care of the Carrera.
Took it on a 30 mile r/t drive today for lunch with friends. When back, used the water-less wash/wax and took some pics.
I have new fondness for this car now.

Thanks! I've owned it for 18 years now and it's been super reliable. The only trouble I've had in that time was the clutch cable wore through the roll pin in the pedal cluster and wouldn't let the clutch engage. (and the alternator gave out 15 years back)

And it has a Steve Wong chip making it a very strong running car.
