No photos down inside. The insert inside must be thick to not be broken.

I remember as a kid, my grandfather and I both had gray plastic thermos brand lunchboxes that included a thermos inside clipped into the lid. I seem to remember that the glass inserts were fairly thin and broke pretty easily, at least for a kid.

Looked like this.

I remember my father using a thermos like the one in the OP
That would have been in the 50's.

I couldn't keep one for a month. Hated them. When someone finally came out with a better mousetrap I was a taker.

Now, if someone would just come out with a better mousetrap.

Man you were in TROUBLE with Mom if you dropped your Glass Lined Thermos out of your Snoopy Lunch pail.

I used one of those lunch boxes for a lot of years when I was working. Couldn't afford to go out to lunch like most of my fellow workers, so I ate at my desk.
I kept my lunch box, paring knife and can cozy that would keep a soft drink can cool until lunch time.

I'm pretty sure my wife got rid of the thermos a long time ago. I replaced the handle when the plastic one gave out.

When someone replaced the thin glass with a metal insert I was sold.

I remember reading a story that at a factory , at the end of a worker’s career and they decided to retire, they suspended the lunchbox from the ceiling. A tradition that was still being done. At least at the time of the article. It was a neat picture to see all of the boxes spanning generations hanging.

If I recall correctly, it was a tall ceiling like an industrial building. Not sure if it was on the forum or elsewhere, but I am sure someone here way smarter than me knows something about it
