Cancel culture at its finest!
Yep, I disable Siri and don't have any Amazon devices. Actually, I got a little video box for free. I've never used it. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/NfiIXooD77s" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe> In the past, I had a smart thermostat, but I had that thermostat blocked (unable to access the Internet). I was able to control the thermostat from my home network, and the cloud wasn't required. I think I had that about 15 years ago, for about 5 years. I haven't had anything else smart working on the cloud since. |
There's more than 1 lesson here...................

Seems like Big Brother wants us all connected.
-Started with credit cards to track what you buy. -Internet that collect data with cute little "cookies" (sounds so harmless). -Medical records (and DNA if you did the genealogy thing) in a central data base. -Smart phone that tracks everything you search and GPS to track where you go. -Cameras everywhere "for your safety" (but crime has not gone down and criminals aren't prosecuted). -Facial recognition. -"Smart" thermostats that the utility can control. -"Smart" homes with Ring doorbells, Security systems, Alexa or Siri listening to everything you say (but of course they would never violate your privacy a la facebook). -Next will be chips implanted under your skin (already used by some corporations but soon to be mandated). |
