Garage
So I was pumping up my bike tire...

and went for an uneventful ride the other day.
Came home and took a picture of my bike, just because that's what I do, take pictures, and noticed something funny at the valve stem on the front tire.

Any of you guys ever had this happen?

I'm bummed because the tube is a super heavy duty one I put in way back a long time ago when I switched wheels to this bike. They're heavier duty than the tires themselves.

If they'd stay on the rims without tires around them I think you could easily ride on them.

The 'heavy duty' Goodyear inner tube I replaced it with this morning is really light weight compared to what came out.

Yep... I've seen that a few times in the past but lately - E-Bikes!

Age plus heat IMO.

Just a little embolism. If it has the chance of chafing around the valve stem hole, it will go away.

Best

If you ride fast enough, the centrifugal force will make the air leave the valve stem and go back into the tube.

Pull inner tube.
Coat with ubtanuim coating.
Wrap a 1/32" steel hard band around the base of the valve stem.

Sue the mfr for providing cheap new parts which led to your broken neck.

I know that's meant to be funny (& it is) BUT I wonder if you'd actually be able to test that?

Imagine a really fast rotating bicycle wheel with a tiny camera mounted in such a way so it would record what's going on in the valve area.

Air has mass so it would be affected by centrifugal force but it would also be pulling a vacuum behind it. Would those two forces balance each other out? IMO the centrifugal force would be greater than vacuum up to a certain point.

Pull it back and reinflate. Maybe a fiber washer if the fit isn't right.

Is that like the F1 dilemma?
(i.e. speed up to not crash.)
