Blue Jeans and Khaki pants

The Weird T Shirt thread reminded me of another dilemma I'm facing.

WTF is with all the stretch material in blue jeans and khaki pants? I've been having a tough time finding either without some sort of lycra or whatever making them stretchy. I usually get only one wear out of them due to this and have to launder them far too often to get the fit that isn't all stretched out.

I usually do Wranglers and boots on Fridays with a Poncho shirt. Sometimes I even just throw on a sport coat and wear that to court if necessary, but only on slow days.

My current Wranglers have lycra. I ordered a khaki pair of Wranglers and those had lycra as well. Both look great but seriously, after one wear they are way too baggy due to the stretch material. My Levis even have lycra. It's a conspiracy I think.

Anyone have a brand or store where I can get regular denim jeans and cotton khakis?

Can't help with khaki - but raw/selvedge denim is still the real thing. I like Naked and Famous, out of Canada and guaranteed no Chinesium slave labor cotton - all USA (I think) sourced cotton woven in Japan on ww2-era looms repurposed from the USA south. Slubby and with interesting character. They hurt to pay for, but wear hard and wear in well as long as you don't wash them too much. I think they also have some "browner" cotton twill available but that's not really my thing...

I actually like stretchy jeans. I have a pair of Carharts that are very heavy non-stretch denim but they sorely lack ball-room. So they see minimal activity.

I get classic-style jeans from L.L. Bean. Available in good sturdy non-stretchy denim in several different fits and colors. Only $60/pair too.

It's for those that want to skinny pants but no longer measure up to the days of youth.

The stretch material works with my endomorph somatotype. (read:neanderthal)
https://www.uh.edu/fitness/comm_educators/3_somatotypesNEW.htm

Otherwise I'd have to buy larger super baggy size and wear a belt to stay comfortable. If not the pants ride down. Any kind of exercise quickly pulls the back out of whack which tends to ruin the rest of the week.

https://picclick.com/Popular/chuck-norris-action-jeans are not in production but still available.

Look up Kines Ranch, I have a pair of the “Watson” and really like them. Made in the USA with imported materials but not stretchy at all.

I also like the 20X Wranglers, I think that’s what they are… they do not have any Lycra and plenty of ball room.

The hardware stores out here in the country often have clothes which seems weird to be but OK. They seem to often have jeans in the $10-25 range. I was super curious, so I bought a pair of the $17 jeans at a "Sutherlands" thinking that they seemed like a good option for working outside, getting dirty, etc... They are fantastic jeans, very comfy and remind me of the old Levis after a couple of washes, thick, but flexible. They don't have the rivets or any sort of logo or anything on the back pockets, but they seem to be surprisingly good quality (not stretchy).

I have been a life-long levis guy, but their stuff isn't remotely what it once was. I find that I have to try on EVERY pair of levis to make sure they fit because there's a ton of variability from pair to pair. Also, the denim seems much, much thinner than it used to be.

For "nice" jeans AG makes some good stuff. I haven't bought any in probably the last 10 years, but they used to have non-stretch, and seemed like good quality and comfortable. But then they are pricey.

I also bought a pair of $20-25 Wranglers from one of the local hardware stores. THey had very long legs which is great for me, but they are not comfortable. It seems they are made for someone with a differently shaped body from mine or someone that wears their jeans for a particular look despite comfort.

Thank god it’s not just me! I wore Levi’s 501s for most of my life and switched to 514s many years ago. Now there are no 514s available that aren’t stretchy and I’m not to keen on high wast 501s anymore since I’m all leg (36” inseam and 6’2”).

I bought a bunch of made in USA jeans that were 100% pure cotton. Gustin. Bluer. Taylor Stitch. And one more I keep forgetting. The problem I found is that the size and fit vary wildly. One was fine in the thighs but too loose at the waist, the other, fine at the waist, but too tight in the thighs. I have one last 501 made in the USA. That's always consistent. Too bad they don't make 'em anymore.

I ran into the same problem when I would order wranglers online. If you have a Menards, go there. They sell the original wranglers. Cheaper than online too!
