i can see behind me!
My "new" daily driver is a '93 Ranger wiht a topper on it.
Unfortunately, the PO painted the inside of the topper windows black, so the only thing my rear view mirror did for me was give me a place to hang my name tag for work... Spent $100 at amazon, son spent 2 hours fiddling with wires, and I now have a rear view camera and 5" monitor in place of useless mirror. It is meant for reverse, so I have to do something about the LEDs on it (thinking taillight repair tape over 'em to make 'em red). Still hang name tag from it just fine :) I've hated the cameras in all of the cars my mom and wife have that have 'em, but without a proper mirror I'm now really appreciative of it.... |
While I was in California last week it was 107 one day. I came out to my 911 and the rear view mirror had fallen off. I had to drive over to a local Autozone and buy some rear view mirror glue, and a scraper to scrape the glass and the button clean. Then follow the directions, glue the button back on, wait 30 minutes and hang the mirror.
It is weird to look up expecting to see what is behind me and only see sky. Much like walking into a dark room with the power out, and instinctively, flipping on the light switch, knowing there it no power. Doh! I kept looking and it was gone. It is really nice to see what is back there. |
