Big goof. Listed as 6 cylinders (on CL). Obviously not. A PPI is going to uncover some nastiness.

From the linked CL ad: "It is powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a five-speed manual transaxle".

Its sitting crooked. The right rear is low and the left front is low. This could indicate a bent tub worse case, but hopefully just needs some suspension work.

For a car with that many receipts for maintenance you'd think it'd be in a LOT better shape than it presents in the photos.

I agree. This seems kind of sketchy to me. Being sold by a dealer, why not its "one" owner? It is pretty, but the floor is rusted through under the driver's feet, and possibly on the passenger side too. There is a good chance there IS some nastiness under that nice paint. It's going to need some work.

So are you correcting me now? Did I not say "on CL?"

Is your toilet paper hanging the right way?

They will get huge money for that. Went to their website and they are asking a LOT for the other cars they have. Only one I saw that you had to call for a price was this one.

I'd really be worried about the torn boot on the rear axle.
I didn't think you could list it anywhere else but BaT once it hit their site, but I guess if it's all in reference to them no harm no foul.
Way too much emphasis being placed on the receipts, and frankly that log book pales in comparison to mine.
No brag, just fact.

I think I get the attraction. I had a 1968 912 for four years. Drove it across country twice.

Red with black interior.

Viciously good looking but unless you were in the twisties the performance was fun in a Honda XL-150 motorcycle sort of way.

Quick Sea Story.

Nearing the end of my time in San Diego, 1987. I see an ad for a '69 912 with the 5 speed. I call and we agree to meet at the turn around on the Coronado side of the Coronado Bay Bridge. No toll for him and I lived a mile away. Still had toll booths.

Guy pulls up and there it is, a 912, even has the cool script on the engine lid. Except it it has a 911 engine in the back just purring away.

So I go, "When did you do the engine swap or is this a 911?"

"912"

"Ok, but you do know it would be worth more if it was a 911, right?"

Wheels on the bus start to go round and round in his head. I am not, believe me, buying whatever the thing is but I just thought I'd help.

"Interested?"

Nope.

I still smile.

No need to get irked about it. In the description, it says the car is a 1.6L flat-four, but the sidebar does say '6 cylinders'.

For all those receipts, they couldn't fix the baby grills.

I almost bought a one owner red '68 912 from the guy I bought my practice from; he did not want that much money for it, immaculate, had the little book and the tool kit, time machine to when I was in short pants. I had a yen for something with the motor in the middle, so I bought a rust free 914 2.0 instead. Wife is not happy that it is orange, but not as disappointed that the gray Miata is not a yellow S-2000 or Boxster. Had a bunch of grandkids and it sat. Fixin' to send it in for paint. Need to go talk to Bill, take him a variety six pack and look around in his shop, always something groovy in that place.

I don’t know anything about 912’s but I wonder what it will sell at? To me, it looks like it needs a lot of work, just to make it a decent car or and more money/time than I would want to put into it.

I think I read the tires are from 2001, but it looks like somebody’s been driving on them. All the insides are worn out and one is down to the cord.

Decklid grill looks like it could use some of Shaun's magic to straighten the ribs out.

Good eye.

And who drives on that crooked suspension with those 20yo tires?
