Text "Administrator"

Pelicanheads are remarkably knowledgeable and I enjoy making use of this brain trust.

I sent a text message to two people. There are therefore three people in this text chat thread. Next thing I know, one of those other people became the "administrator" of the chat. Anybody know about this? If so, then what powers does this new "administrator" have? Can she edit stuff and/or block messages to the third (non-administrator) person whom I included?

+1 Just add a little context.

This is news to me but sounds pretty cool given some of the stuff I have experienced in group family texts and what others have told me they have been through.

I'm thinking, but not certain, that you, the originator of the group message would have to add one of the other two people as administrator. Just talking though.

What app did you use? WHat app did the new administrator use? What phones are they?

This what a simple text group I created using my android phone. You know. Phone text. I sent two people a text message on my phone. Then....one of them made themselves "administrator."

Well, that's one way to become an admin.

My guess is that it's something specific to the app that they are using on the receiving end. My guess is that it also doesn't really give them any fancy rights or permissions that they wouldn't have in any other text group.

I've never seen or heard of this before.

This may have nothing to do with it, but...

I suspect you are right Steve, and hope you are. I, as Person 1, do not want Person 2 to have control over the content received by Person 3. In this particular text group, there could be a motive for Person 2 to 'manage' content received by Person 3.

I dont think there is such a thing, they may have just changed their name. What, exactly, does the notification say?

Text chats are a one-way communication. Outbound from the sender.

Isn't it just like a pack. The alpha is pretty much established right off the bat?
