rapid onset kitty covid is deadly....

Posted a few weeks ago about the kittens we adopted.

My oldest daughter adopted one of their siblings as well.

In the past week, two of the 6 kittens from the litter have died of sudden onset kitty covid stuff, apparently the lady running the foster we got them from has had covid and it spreads to the kittens, resulting in sudden death

Unfortunately, my oldest daughter's kitten was one of the two that died. Issues started happening last night around 10pm, kitten was dead by 2am.

Fortunately, our two are still looking OK ....

An interesting diagnosis. Sorry to hear about this but the diagnosis sounds contrived. Any idea how this conclusion was reached? Have to wonder if something else is going on. Millions of us had COVID, even repeatedly with no effect on our pets. So sorry your family is dealing with this. But I’m skeptical that it has anything to do with a coronavirus at all.

Upon quick search…seems it’s possible but very rare and produces only mild symptoms in cats. But with Google you can generally find whatever you look for!

Apparently it can mutate into an infectious peritonitis....

When I heard of the first kitten death last week and the cause, I was doubtful since it was coming from "crazy cat lady".... but daughter took her kitten to our local emergency after hours vet - which around here is the UF Vet School.... so I tend to believe it now

Wondering if they specifically tested the cats for CV19 or just drew an easy conclusion.
