When I was 10 I discovered that the UF library had a bound set like that, each year was its own volume and each year got added in March-ish. They also had the other NRA mag "American Hunter".

Then when I was 13 I learned the UF library had a similar collection of Playboy and Penthouse a few isles over in the same part of the stacks.

Growing up in a university town could be good for a boy's education .... :)

Very cool! I have some older issues in my collection, but no complete sets by year. It was a far different magazine in those days. All technical and historical content, no politics. Today it seems like it's mostly the other way around.

I lived on base at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, AL. The home of the Air War College. They have a great library, way better than the local library, and orders of magnitude better than the high school library. They had an entire section of PhD thesis on the shelves. I had to be escorted to that area, as it passed through the Top Secret documents area. A large security officer actually held my head so I would not turn my head to see what they were doing, and they all had to cover any documents they had out. I suspect that are is off limits to dependents now.

Long before the internet, it was a magical source of information for me.

Sad that they're closing down base libraries now due to "budget cuts".
